As it wasn't an actual present from your wife for your wedding I say sell it if you don't wear it. Keep your wife from the big day and sell the watch. You'll be keeping the most important one. Sell it, buy something you love and have a new attachment with your new piece "that you sold the watch you wore on your wedding day to purchase"

If it was a Rolex - keep
If Breitling - sell

So you wore it that day. Unless you've also been hanging on to the socks and underwear you wore at your wedding, sell it if you want something else. It's not like it was a wedding present from your wife or mom and dad, or was handed down to you.

Life is short, get something you want out of it.

Another vote for selling it. If it was a gift, I'd have a different view.

You'll lose a lot on the sale. Is it worth it to you?

I vote to sell it...as an heirloom piece it may suffer because it spent so much time in the vault versus on your wrist. To me detracts from the value as an heirloom piece if is sits in the safe more than it does on your wrist...if you don't value it enough to wear it often then you can't expect others to value it as much.

He indicated in post #8 that he could sell it for what he paid for it.

I gave my wife the TT DJ (new) that I was wearing as a present straight after our wedding ceremony, she wears it daily. Maybe ask your wife what she feels about you selling the watch, she may be fine with it but on the other hand it may upset her, in which case the watch is a keeper (IMHO).

Funny thing is, I gave the suit I was married in to a charity shop when I lost loads of weight, my wife on the other hand would not part with her dress for the world (not a white wedding dress).

Mind, having said that, the wardrobe is full of dresses she doesn't wear anymore but asking her to cull her collection is akin to telling her "that her bum looks big in that", I just daren't.
