Great pics and thanks for sharing. I've had the 216570 for about nine months now and love it. Regardless, my eye kept being drawn to the GMTII but there is no AD nearby. I was recently in Baton Rogue and had the opportunity to try on the LN as well as the BLNR. Both are beauties, both are great choices but after slipping my EXPII back on I knew I had made the right choice.

If the EXPII had a rotatable bezel, I'd own it to complement the GMTc. But without that, it's usefulness as a working GMT watch is remarkably reduced. I use the GMT for actually tracking my timezones with the 24 hour hand on Zulu time. For just tracking a home time zone, the big 24 hour bezel is over kill. Something simple like a grand seiko or panerai or PP GMT-like watch with a subtle set of secondary markings would be just fine for that. The DJII with a 24 hour hand would do very well.

GMT Verses Explorer II: The word "verses" is perhaps generally inadequate in some ways on TRF, although I get and respect what we mean by that. But I just want to underline the privilege and pleasure of comparing Rolex watches as it is virtually never winner / loser in these comparisons; it is winner winner from the start, and then of the two watches, one matches up individually with the wearer due to individual taste or needs. And even that explanation is inadequate because many of you own large chunks of the men's Rolex catalogue.

So I take respectful umbrage with those who would make disparaging remarks about the Rolex (for example, when Im Lauf der Zeit on this forum felt like he needed to call the new Explorer II a "clownish fad." http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...lownish&page=2).

The Explorer II and GMT are both spectacular watches. You can't go wrong with either! They are both great, I'd be proud to own one or both. The 42mm is best for me just because I prefer a little bit more size, but without hesitation I'd wear a GMT, Daytona, you name it. There's not much in life among manufactured objects where there is so precious little down down-side. So this is my celebration. Peace.

If the Exp II was 40mm, I probably would have bought one of those a few years ago as the green trimmed GMT has never sang to me. Between the two, I was leaning to the Exp II, even though 42mm is too big for me. It is a beauty though.

Thank goodness I waited, and the BLNR was released. End of problem!
