Congrats on the Rolex. You deserve it.

As an aside, at a neighborhood party (I live in a wealthy area) I overheard some older self-styled American aristocrats - old money blue bloods (one of our neighbors owned 7 houses in very expensive areas) - talking about their prep schools and whose Headmaster was the strictest, etc. I snidely asked if I was the only guy who went to public school (American public)? They looked shocked, and said Yes.

Later in the evening, forgetting I wasn't one of the elite, during an "America is turning socialist" rant, one of them made a comment to the effect that next thing you know, the lower orders will be wearing Rolexes and driving Porsches. I snidely replied, "we already are."

First watch? I think I was about 10 when I got mine. That was pre Cell Phones however. When did you get your first Cell? At any rate, congratulations on a great first watch.

Congrats and mine says hello! Great watch and seller, got mine from David as well. This watch has been getting quite a bit of wrist time, I had been wearing my DSSD daily for over four years... Enjoy!

Well i got my first cell phone when I was 18 years old and I got it with money I saved at my job lol. I'm 33 now and had a very poor upbringing so asking for a watch was just not on my mind back then I was more concerned about trying to get shoes that weren't bought at Payless lol.

Been working construction ever since I graduated high school and most companies I worked for did not allow watches or any jewelry for that matter so that would answer why, It appears that I've dragged my feet a bit

Thanks for the congrats and asking the question that I'm sure a lot have wondered.

I love this! I run into people like that all the time. The wife takes me to political events usually fund raisers and galas for her job. I keep to myself but every time someone approaches me and asks what I do, I simply reply with "I'm a construction worker". I want to be left alone I just go for the free drinks. Every once in a while I humor the occasional person and strike up a conversation only to be talked to as if I were lower class. Truth is they don't realize how much worse and beneath me I see them which is why I continue to speak with them.

I had a very poor upbringing worked in construction all my life but consider my life a success story. I have no debt, my house and 3 vehicles are paid off, have college funds for my 2 kids everyone in good health, buy everything cash. I mean what else could I ask for.......oh wait a cherry on top which I just got, an explorer II

first watch ever? never had a calculator watch, guess, swatch, casio... nothing?

the first watch i got out of school was an omega (on a tour of europe). someone else on tour got a rolex and i was thinking hey those are better. and my grandmother said something like rolexes are for businessmen. 3 years later i was fed up with corporate america, had a good run with my ebay store, and got a rolex (which i'm still wearing)
