5980 looks good on bracelet due to the heft of the case. 5712 looks good in any format and in any steel!

Of course I am aware of the push pieces but I was speaking of the chrono pushers which are much more distinctive

You definitely made right choice! They can't give away the ROC's anymore..Market fell out from under them. I know dealers here on TRF offered for $36K and passed as they can't sell ones they have. I came close to getting one and decided to stick with Patek and no more AP. Good move and congrats in advance!

5980R.

I had a similar decision to make last month and I went for the 5980R. I didn't like the asymmetrical dial on the 5712 and the 5980 had a better wrist presence...and the chrono movement is simply amazing.

Ken: would you mind expanding on why the ROCs can't be given away? Not trying to stir any kind of pot, just want to make sure I did not miss out on some important news (well, at least related to haute horlogerie).

I mean that they are not an easy sell and my friends who are dealers can't move them and market for them very soft. As I stated I know a dealer here who passed on used one for $36K because he can't sell the 2 he has. Why that is who knows but the craze for them that existed months ago is dead.

The 5712r gets my vote not because I have one myself but it has more of an interesting dial compared to the 5980 and much more elegant IMHO.

I am totally new to the PP world, is it correct that one cannot get the 5712R with a bracelet (only with a strap)?

Choose the one you will end up looking at most.
I mean, usually you end up looking at the face of the watch most of the time. If you only wear your watch under your sleaves and like heavy watches that give you a certain feel more than you like the way the 5712 dial looks....
Then you have your answer
