When you strap an object to the end of your arm it's gonna get scratches as you go about your day-to-day activities. That's reality & you'll need to either accept it or go bonkers. Don't stress the small stuff, man.

Instead of worrying all day about inevitable wear on an inanimate object, set your mind to a more productive task...Ideally one that makes money so that you can add watches to your collection & pay for servicing when they need it. Leave worrying about the scratches to the Rolex Service Centre when that time comes.

Yes... This Rolex "special" steel, gold, etc.. Is pure marketing smoke.
Scratches are part of ownership. Don't let the watch wear you, make memories with it and enjoy.

Not at all. Have you seen many vintage Rolex & Tudor with the casebacks off? They're often pitted with corrosion on the case where the back presses the gasket against it from sweat/salt/etc... Rolex watches made after the switch to 904L don't suffer the same illness around the gasket..or at least I've never seen one that did.

I spend a lot more on a car that is going to get worse scratches and be worth something close to $0 in 10-15 years. Even with all the scratches, your Rolex is most likely going to be worth more than you paid in 10-15 years, and still have a hundred or more years of useful life ahead of it, whether you keep it or sell it.

I find it hard to get too worked up over. I'm a little upset about the dock scar my boat picked up on our last trip, though.

I find that it's much easier on me physically to accept the swirls, dings, and dents. Embrace it my friend

Anything highly polished will attract scratches, that's just how it is.

No one claims the watches are scratch resistant do they? If you don't want scratches leave it on your nightstand and visit it on weekends

Come to think of it, I actually smile when I smack my deepsea on a door frame walking past it sometimes =)

They are not scratches - they are service stripes!

Come to think of it, it seems I have to fix or replace something every time my marathon gets a scratch too. Its supposed to be supper tough but scratches all the time and then I have to fix whatever scratched it! I need to be more careful as trailer hitches aren't cheap to replace.

A little frustrated

1.Try not to scratch

2. Enjoy your scratch

3. Opt for a nato and call it a lifetime without scratches

I chose 2. And 3. When I feel like it's going to be a mike Rowe type of day

DSOTM takes care of that problem but I am also more open to scratches then I used to be. I don't ever really bother to use a cape cod or scotchbrite anymore. It helps that I have a few watches to rotate too. I just went with the TT 116613 which I was worried about the gold scratching but then Ive always wanted a watch with some gold. Trade offs.

Stop worrying so much and start enjoying that beauty. Everybody got scratches somewhere. Live with it.

Knocked my on the wall yesterday. Immediately looked and thought it was scratched. Wiped it a couple of times with a wet paper towel, and luckily it was debris. It would have been bad too as the hit was on the crystal. I was very happy when it wiped off.

Just wrap the whole thing in masking tape and use masking tape that is light enough that you can peer through to tell the time when need be under high lumen lighting. Better yet just keep the watch in its box, and tape the box to your wrist! That's the best solution I can think of to "baby" it...
