Like everyone else Mayweather knows Pacman has slowed down which is why he is now willing to fight him. There is a reason he wouldn't fight him 5-6 years ago. I don't think Pacman has a chance now.

Could care less now. I would rather see 2 bums fight over a bottle of boones now.

YES! I have been waiting for this fight like everyone else. I have NO Respect for Mayweather. He should have fought Manny in his Prime and stopped putting it off. The fight will be good but would have been so much better when they were both in their prime fighting condition! Mayweather and his money team, cocky mouth and BS better back his stuff up.

Im excited for this fight! Not sure why any other boxing fan wouldn't be? All this talk of pacman being out of his prime, he's old, people acting like mayweathers getting younger. Mayweather is older than pacman, he's fought roughly the same amt of fights, (amateur and pro). It sounds like people just need the, see I told you so, pacman lost cause he's old. Pacman has been losing fights the past 2 decades! Before his prime, during his prime and after it. Mayweather, if he wins, because everyone knows anybody can win in a fight, will have won because he's the better boxer, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Mayweather 116-112

I, like most would have liked to see the fight a few years ago. But I will take it. Of course it is a money grab at this point, for both fighters. Not saying that they don't want to win the fight of the century, but there is a LOT of money on the line, no matter who you are.
I have no idea if Floyd has $5 gazillion or .05 and I don't care. But with the way that he brags about his 5 Bugatti's and shoes and excess he is spending it as fast as he makes it I assume. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Mayweather has the speed and talent to make it a box and run stinkfest. I wonder if he will just try and box out 12 and make it boring or if he will really come to fight.

They hate each other. And the handlers as well. Mayweather Sr. is talking shit already, Bob Arum is talking. Even Freddie Roach is mouthing off, one of the best corner men/trainers in the world IMO. He has Parkinson's disease, I hope he gets the win with Pacman.

Until they enter the ring, I'm not counting on this happening. I guess the Contract for this WAS UNREAL on all the concession to Mayweather and his promotions. They bent over in EVERY direction for him. I think Arum will say something, or put something out there (since he is second fiddle to May Promos, he has to run everything through them first) and Mayweather won't like it and he'll threaten to cancel it.
And as I said before, Mayweather wins easily. I dislike Mayweather's personality, but his boxing skills are undeniable. They have said that he doesn't do well with lefties or agression...but seeing Mayweather is bigger than Pac (which he hasn't been for his recent fights), and his counter punching....I think he takes it. BUT!!!! As said before, I'd love to see Manny starch him (as Marquez did to Manny)....but I don't think it happens.

Mayweather is smart to keep delaying the fight. And since Manny's been pre-occupied with his duties in the Philippines and not at the same shape as 5 years ago....it's time to get into the ring. Pro Pacman but I think Mayweather will have a better chance of winning.

I'll root for mayweather even though he's a peacock as he's a damn good fighter even if his style is more well rounded than what makes for the best tv.

I'll root for Manny to not only win, but permanently disable the worthless woman beater. Logic does say that Mayweather wins it though.

9 times out of 10 the 'Boxer' beats the 'Puncher' but Pacquaio hasn't KOed anyone since 2009. Going to be an interesting fight style wise Orthodox vs Southpaw etc.

I'm for Manny :) If Mayweather doesn't run and hug all night then it will be a good fight. Once Mayweather gets rocked he will probably run more or hug more making the fight very boring
Yes, would like to see what requests Pacman had to agree to for Mayweather to take the fight, probably some pillow gloves, hahaha. Just hope there is a real ref in there that doesn't let Mayweather get away with all his illegal tactics. |

A group of us are looking at going down for it. Not sure if we'll be able to make the fight though, as I imagine those tickets will be REDONKULOUSLY priced!

Here's my take as a former professional boxer:
First, Manny's demise has been overstated. His reputation was largely tarnshied by his two recent losses. But, keep in mind that one of those losses was the worst decision I've seen in a major fight since Holyfield drew with Lennox Lewis. I had Manny beating Bradley 9-3 in their first fight. I could see a case for 8-4, but the idea Bradley - who is a very, very tough and capable fighter - pulled that match out is laughable. Manny's other loss was on a fluke knockout to a hall of fame fighter in the last second of a round in a fight he was winning. Look, if you fight a great talent like Marquez for 40 rounds, and make a simple mistake at the end of a round, there's a chance you're going to get caught, and Manny did. Doing so doesn't fundamentally change who he is as a fighter or his ability level. Now, starting with the Cotto fight, Mayweather has looked more hittable, but it's difficult to tell whether that's because he's tried to make his fights more action-packed or he's actually slowing down. Remember, Mayweather is the older fighter, but he's taken almost no damage over the course of his career and keeps himself in phenomenal shape. Braggadocio aside, he's one of the hardest-training fighers in the sport. Three to five years ago, I had Manny winning. He was just so tempestuous I didn't think Floyd could keep him off for 12 rounds. The way to beat a highly-skilled counter puncher like Floyd or Roy Jones is to keep walking them down. Push them against the ropes and wear them down. Wait for your shots to come. 36 minutes in a confined space is a lot of time. However, Manny has gotten wild lately. I don't know if it's pressure from his lack of knockouts or just general sloppiness, but he comes in too wide and undisciplined lately. Floyd is such a precision fighter I see him staying in the pocket and just nailing Manny with straight rights every time he tries to move in. Manny, unfortunately, never developed much of a jab, which is another essential to closing the distance against Floyd. I believe Oscar beat Floyd 7-5, and he largely did so on the strength of his jab. However, Floyd was able to adjust and counter Oscar's jab with a sharp right cross, and Oscar was never able to make his own adjustments, and let the fight slip away on the cards. In sum, I think it'll be a great fight. Both men are still at the top of their games. However, Manny needs to make some adjustments if he is to have a chance of winning. He'll need to work behind a jab, he'll need to stop the wild, wide hooks that have punctuated his recent style, and he'll have to make sure to keep himself better defended than he's been inclined to do lately. |

marciano, what do you give on the size difference? That is my biggest concern for Manny. I think his pressure is key, however, Floyd's counterpunching is the BEST, and he is much bigger than Manny...in fact I was stunned to see the size difference. Recently Floyd has been the smaller fighter, which is one reason I think he was hit more and bullied more (but yet still great defense against those bigger fighters). I do think he is slowing down, but not enough to get caught cleanly...not yet anyways.
100% agree with your take on Manny's "slippage"...BS decision, and Marquez is an all time great. IN boxing, against a pro, it just takes one punch. That happens. I feel, Floyd's size will be his biggest advantage.
