Bought this beauty in 1972; restored it just last year.

Yes, that means 42 years ago and she isn't going anywhere soon!

First foray into the world of rolex 15 months ago, a Sub C ND, still have, plan on leaving it for a niece or nephew. The addiction hast begun.

Have flipped many watches but still hang on to my first Rolex for sentimental reasons. It was a struggle to buy the first. Wife wears it now.

My first was an Oyster Date 34mm from the 90s, that I gave my mother 10 or so years ago, so while I don't own it anymore it is still in the family.

Same here. Owned a "fat lady'' GMT 2 bought in 1987, flipped it a couple of years ago for the new ceramic GMT2, which has now been flipped for the white Exp 2.

No time or place for sentiment in my watch box!

I only got my first a couple of years ago and I still have it, a white dial Exp II 216570.
I have since also bought a BLNR and still have that too. I have no intention of flipping or selling either of them any time soon.

Chaps

I cannot understand why anyone would think of selling their Rolex.

I have two and will soon be buying a third and all three plus my JLC and Omega will be passed on to my sons and grandsons when I eventually pops my clogs.

Watches are part of your life, so why pass them on ?

Regards

Mick

I still have my first as it is only 2 years old. I bought it to celebrate the birth of my daughter and I will only be getting rid of it when I give it to her.

My second was flipped to buy my third and that will soon be flipped to buy my grail - which will be a keeper!!

Ditto.

I have 3 watches in my watch box at the moment. Last year at this time I had 5. None of those 5 are still with me. And yes one of those 5 was my first Rolex.

My first marks a win on a big case - a David v. Goliath type of case. Suffice it to say that I'll never sell it or flip it because it reminds me that: 1) you get what you give; and 2) David is actually bigger and stronger than Goliath.

I still have it. I have never sold one of my watches and I think I would never do it unless it's necessary for other things such as an emergency but never to buy another watch. If I can't afford another watch, I can wait longer but won't take money from a watch. Hypothetically, if I buy a watch with the intention to flip it later, I'd feel like I'm cheating on the watch (because that would mean I never loved it). When I buy a watch, I buy it to keep it. I respect serial flippers though.

Found an old picture. If people didn't part with their pre-loved Rolex watches, wouldn't a part of TRF cease to exist?

I understand the sentiment aspect completely. Here's mine, bought new in Jan. 1971. My daily beater since purchased, the bond is now unbreakable. My hair is grayer and its bezel has faded, but we're aging together quite well I think.

This is my first and it doesn't get enough wear because the newer ones always get an extended honeymoon. I'm going to try harder to give the Explorer its due, even after 6 years, it's still a favorite.
