I'm certain that two people could go to the same AD and have completely different experiences.

It's like many things in life, you gotta let go of the small stuff. If you feel the service isn't up to par, smile and spend somewhere else. Simple

Are you aware that Rolex boutique belongs to Wempe? I've met Jules and he is a very nice man.

Have to agree. I found my experience at Tourneau in Manhattan to be fantastic. I have had horrible experiences with Tourneau in the past at their location in the Pentagon City Mall and was pleasantly surprised when I was in NYC a few months ago.

I found the 5th Avenue boutique adequate.

Wempe was a disappointment. I likely just went on a bad day. I have heard many wonderful stories about the store and I know some of the forum members here have friendships with some of the ownership. I supposed it just depends on the day, how busy the store is, etc. I don't expect to be fawned over when I visited an AD but a greeting by a salesman after spending 20 minutes browsing would have been a start.

Wempe owns and operates 2 Rolex Boutiques;
One in the Rolex USA headquarters building at 665 5th Ave @ 53rd Street in NYC,
and another at 184 Kurfürstendamm (known locally as the Ku'damm)
in Berlin, Germany.

While I've had "decent" service at both Wempe and both NYC Tiurneau locations, when I went in a couple of months ago (as a previous customer) to request a call when a d-blue DSSD comes in it took both of them until about a week ago to get back to me with a watch. David SW had one in my hands well before and for a much better price. I'll buy my own bottled water from now on and skip the AD experience

In Europe there's a custom of letting people browse in peace.

You can barely enter a store in the US without someone asking you "how can I help you?". Nice thought behind it I guess... But if I enter a clothes store, I'm surely not looking for coffee, but usually I don't know what particular clothes item I'm looking for either, before I've had a few minutes to look around.

If I go into a watch store, and find something I like, I can surely ask for help.

Just my two cents.
I know exactly what you mean and find that the best salesmen know how to assist without getting in the way. Cars, watches, real estate whatever.

FWIW have had good service at both wempe locations uptown.

I too was blown off at Wempe NYC. Wouldn't recommend. I'd put them in the same category as Torneau but for different reasons.
