Would take a valid service card over box and papers any day.
I never really cared much about box/papers, then the TRF tried to shape my thoughts the other way, as it did my thoughts on models to own, then I faced the reality it really is not a big issue for me, they live together on a watch roll. Of my 6 watches 4 have original box/papers (2 were new to me), one a 1984 model still has all its gear a real plus (single owner before me), a further one has Valid and fresh RSC service card and my beloved root beer has nothing, but is in superb condition. I say enjoy your watch, if I was a sceptic I would say the boxes are a risk, as they are in my house but the watches are in a safe, so the knowledge that I own boxes will make a potential thief hunt more....... Come to think of it I think I will store the boxes in a sealed container in the garage to reduce attention.
