I would encourage you to buy what YOU like and want. Just act normal as most will not notice what you are wearing. There are a lot of fake watches on the market so most won't notice yours. I only base my employee's bonus on their performance and not what they wear.

The GMT TT is an amazing beauty and not only for older people.
Go to an AD and try them both, than you will know which one to choose. If your management notices the TT than surely they will also recognise the BLNR ..... No issue there.

I'm not convinced they would notice unless they are somewhat interested in these pieces. I wear a TT sub on a NATO at work, at home and all over the place. Some people take notice and often comment about how this or that person wears a sub. Some people don't notice.
I'm considering a BLNR right now, and I think it may be a little flashier the my TT. |

I can certainly understand your concern with your personal appearance in the workplace. I have several good friends who work in finance and from what they say, their personal appearance and choices made therein could be perceived by both clients and managers as an indication of to your judgement, either in a posive or negative light. The perception of both clients and managers is a very real concern, especially when it comes to how you are managing their money. You are indeed correct to be concerned about how your judgement is perceived, especially if you are relatively new. As you gain experience and achievement, your personal style and choices will be questioned less against your track record.
That being said, the TT GMT is quite appropriate both for your age group and your personal work wardrobe. It isn't too flashy and denotes a subtle sense of restraint. Good luck. |

its naive to think that "no one is looking".
more to the point, wear what you will feel comfortable with. you are always selling yourself in various ways. the pants you wear, the jacket, the glasses, and yes, your watch..... wear what you feel comfortable in.

Personally I would never spend multiple thousands of dollars worring about what others might think.[/QUOTE]
What a wonderful quote. |

Get the BLNR. It doesn't make the same watch model really better or worse to have some gold in it or not. You get the same proven and wonderful movement, you get the same iconic design, the same bracelet, the same prestige with the BLNR than with the TT. If you have reservations about how people would react to seeing some yellow gold on your wrist, then go BLNR. Later on, you can add a TT Rolex to your collection, and you can wear it out of office, like in the weekends.

I've a similar story - I agonised over whether to go TT or SS for my Sub for similar reasons. Eventually I went for TT because I preferred the look and it went with my gold wedding band. I've learned that co-workers either don't notice, or they do and they don't really care. The signals I thought I would be sending by wearing such a watch turned out to be a non-issue. What I do look out for however, is keeping it concealed on my way home late at night!

First and foremost, buy what you prefer. In saying this if the TT is going to make you feel self conscious at work go with the BLNR. If you are worried about trying to 'hide' your watch form senior colleagues all the time it will start to become uncomfortable at work.
The other approach is to buy the BLNR now and get the TT after bonus time! |
