Have had a few watches sized at RSC a in Beverly Hills, almost exactly the same positive experience (in and out in under 15min). They even polished out a ding on my explorer bezel for free...

You watch have to be under warranty to get it size fro free right?

I don't think so. They didn't even ask me for any warranty card at all. They just took the watch to the back without asking for any papers and did it.

Sizing is a very easy job, a shame if Rolex would not do it to you if the warranty expires.

I haven't been asked for the card either. When I get a new watch my first stop is always the RSC to get it sized, and to have it entered in their system. Always just bring the watch, nothing else. Never been questioned or asked any questions about it (all my watches have been purchased here, from trusted sellers)

I've never been to any RSC/ Rolex Boutiques in my city, Sydney, because our stuff are always over priced. Maybe I should go check them out.
I need another watch cloth!

I was wondering what to do after purchasing on TRF, which I plan on doing very soon. Dallas is about 4 hours away from me but would be worth a day trip in order to get the full post buying/fitting experience. I know I will need links removed and just assumed I was going to have to go to an AD where I did not purchase the watch and go from there.

Can I just walk in with my TRF Rolex and get it fitted, registered, etc? Will they do an appraisal for insurance purposes as well? I'm sure I can find the answer but since I'm here I'll throw it out there.

At an RSC they don't 'register' it really, but they do enter your info and watch serial number into their system, so I imagine if anything were awry (stolen, lost, etc) it would show up right away. They will fit it and refit it until you are completely satisfied, all for free. Some ADs may size the watch for free, though don't count on it.

Neither an AD nor RSC will give you a very cheap appraisal--I think RSC is $150. Check with your insurance company to see if they require some kind of special authorized watchmakers appraisal, or if any jewlers appraisal would be satisfactory. If a jewlers appraisal is good enough, find a local one that doesn't need to keep (don't let them keep it overnight even) or open your watch (really, don't let them open your watch) and get one for $25 or so.

Just came back from RSC in NY myself. They removed some foreign object/marking on my sub's seconds hand. Very good service indeed, got the green pouch and polish cloth as freebie.

AD's are a much different experience. One of the four AD's we have in Oklahoma will hardly talk to you if you didn't buy the watch from them. I asked over the weekend if they would regulate my S series sub, nope not without a full service, worst part is they gave me a bunch of crap about legal liability, the time before that when I took in my vintage GMT they flat out said they would not service it because it would be too much labor and their watch maker was busy servicing modern Rolex 8 hours a day that are quote 'easy' so why would they spend the extra time on a vintage. But hey that is just an AD for you, not representative of Rolex as a company.

I am not trying to hijack your wonderful post, RSC is a much different animal from what I have heard, I am just a couple thousand miles away from one to find out.

It's great to hear such good service experiences. It does also matter a good welcoming service staff besides having good quality watches

That is nice to hear of a good RSC experience. It is a pleasure to go to the one near my house too.

Rolex Service Center in NYC

Similar experience. Thanks so much for all of the detail. I went today and it was just like you said plus a free letter for the insurance (usually $150) but nice Rolex bag for my links. I went to size my first Rolex watch the new Batman that I bought at Bob's Watches.

Great to hear! Being in and out of their in 20 minutes is fantastic!

I'm curious, were there many other people in the waiting area? Every time I've visited RSC NYC in person, I had to wait a long time to speak to someone, and then I'd have to come back after an hour or two -- all of which was fine/expected. But that was before the pandemic, and the waiting area was always pretty crowded when I was there. I understand Midtown is still largely a ghost town now.

Love the RSC in Beverly Hills. Have had three watches fully serviced, a WG Daytona OF bracelet sized, and every time they have been top notch.

Now that you’ve gotten the experience get a small flathead and some loctite and you’ll feel the ultimate Rolex pleasure in having done it yourself.

I am also very happy with the service I get at Rolex HQ.
They now call me by my name when I enter the building, and last time, I met (just reciprocal hellos, with the mask on, I was too slow to react) Mr Dufour coming out the building.

Indeed. Have had nothing but fine experiences at various RSC's - Dallas, NYC, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai. However, watch sizing is so simple I prefer to do it myself, even on a new watch.

In my experience, AP (Florida) and Patek (Stern Agency, NYC) also do a terrific job.

It’s good to hear they pampered you even if it was for something as small as sizing your bracelet. Congrats on the Sub!!
