I knew it, split down the middle...

A new question: Which one has more upside from investment perspective?

Anyone who tells you they know doesn't know...Who knows? Best advice buy whichever you desire most and that is best investment you can make in wrist happiness.

All true but the 5070 is IMHO unlike any other offering.

Ken agree the 5970 is a very special watch with just the perfect magic, a piece that evolved subtly over decades and came together with beauty and balance that was elusive in other models.

my perception of the 5070 is, if held in line with those chronos that came before and after (5170), it really is a drastic departure from the aesthetic that has represented the 2 register chrono only models. So for that reason i see it as a watch outside the norm and more unto itself.

This is true and also largest Patek made at 42mm. For me the only answer is owning both!

Any of them in platinum. If I was spending that much on a watch I'd save a bit more any go for platinum every time.

I love them both, but if I could buy one of them, it would have to be the 5970. The PC complication would have clinched it for me.

Of course 5970 by a mile, why? Perp calendar, moon phase and it's a beauty, the 5070 is also nice but just time and chrono isn't enough IMO, it's ok if you have a few others, but between the 2 the 5970 wins easy

I might even prefer a 5070 R or G or J above the 5970
Yep it's a beauty in blue, but personally I would go for a blue dial 5270G, think it looks amazing, the 5970 is a little nicer in itself, but the blue dial gives advantage, IMO, to the 5270...

Arnaud sorry there is no comparison as the 5270's are pigs for Patek that no collector's want and they sink like a submarine on secondary as a result. The 5070 and 5970 on the other hand are 2 of most desirable Pateks ever made. I had a 5270 for a short time and quickly realized what a mistake I had made and sold quickly before they sunk even more. So clearly the 5070P is one that only 150 or so were made and demand far outweighs supply and the 5270G one that well we all already know...
