Great purchase looks lovely. I have a 1979 5.9mil mark 1dial, the L in ROLEX directly under the coronet is one way to indentify this. The plexi looks aftermarket, like mine as i think the original would not have had the bevel and been square at the top. But I'm by no means an expert.

Mk1 dials happen to have slightly thicker markers compared to other dial variations of white 1680s. I dont know if we can say that for all mk1 dials but most i have seen appears with maxi plots.

That is a beautiful Sub. If I found it I wouldn't be able to make the same mistake as the original owner, it would be actively in the rotation and proudly worn often.

Yes, your dial is a Mk1, and your crystal is definitely a service replacement, which looks like its never been polished at all. The edges are very crisp.

Mine says hi, with a slightly different look:
