I have gold on the mind bigtime. I'd have to move some ss watches I have and just can't decide which ones. I take this to mean I'm at a good spot with the lineup. I'd like a RG Daytona but fear in the end, it will sit all pretty in the box as I'd make excuses not to wear it. So.........considering wg alternatives. Smurf, blro, wg Daytona slate. I have ss in each and thus why my decision is very hard.

As soon as I can afford one! I don't think there is a right time, other than when you hand the cash over!

30 is a great birthday to buy a gold watch IMO.

About to turn 36 and have my sights on a Day Date II Rose Gold as my next Rolex. Not sure about the dial yet but love the concentric look. Hoping to have the money right by the time I turn 40. You guys will be the first to know .

A simple answer to your question can be provided via white gold.

I started wearing gold when I was 1 years old My grandma gave it (gold necklace) to me.

There is no age limit. Just enjoy it as you should be confident in your liking.

Whenever you feel comfortable in it. Personally, at 27, I don't feel comfortable yet and will stick to white metals until that changes.

I don't believe it is a matter of age- how does the watch look on you? It's like clothing in the sense that what one person can pull off in terms of color, style or tailoring, is very individual. Saw a skinny Asian guy not too long ago, maybe 5'8" 140 soaking wet with a rock in his pocket, sporting a yellow gold YMII wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He pulled it off and was thirty at best. Another person, who, on paper is more suited to that watch could like a country club wannabe. What pops off of you or gets absorbed discreetly into your persona? In my opinion, those are the two best ways a watch works on people. One exudes charisma and the other character.

I owned my first Gold Rolex at 30. It takes a certain person to pull of wearing a all Yellow Gold Watch. You must be confident in yourself and a "I could care less what other people think" kind of attitude. A full Yellow Gold Rolex tells the world you have arrived and earned the status of wealth!

In Singapore & HK, there is an impression that :

Young people --> SS Sports model
Mid age --> Two tone or Full gold Sports model
Old age --> Two tone or full gold DJs and DDs.

Even when I walk into ADs in Singapore, the sales guy will tell me..."you look mid-age, DDs and DJs don't suit you" kind of thing....

I'm 29 and would love a gold Daytona, day date or planet ocean omega, but on leather. A gold strap as well is too much old man for me, no offence intended. white gold would be more than ok IMO

If you can afford a all gold piece yourself, you are either old or succesfull enough to pull it of.

My first (116718) was for my 30th.
I think as long as you can afford it and are comfortable wearing it, no restrictions apply.

To me yellow gold fits the "old timer" profile as does 18k yellow/steel. For me though, white gold (obvious) and Rose gold flip this on its ear. I would where a 2-tone rose/steel watch in a heartbeat..

I personally don't feel comfortable wearing a gold watch just yet.
I know some guys don't think it is an age thing, but I really do feel like it is (atleast for me).
I am 25, and usually always get asked for ID. Probably look 20/21.
I would feel out of place with a gold watch at this time in my life.

Just how I feel.
I also almost never wear dressy clothes.

For me it's a skin tone thing more than anything to do with age......... On some people YG looks great and on others (including me) it just looks wrong.......

But I can get away with TT and of course WG.........
