No one should be telling you that. Your watch is merely water resistant (whatever that means) at the rated depth. I wouldn't try diving too deep with it.

90 meters on air in red sea. Lucky to be alive, but I was young and cocky back then and thought it hilarious.

30m or less, lobster diving off the coast of Maine, that's the deepest I've been. Turks & Caicos or the Bahamas probably 15-20m.

10ft max skin-diving........once every two years or so. I believe the depth-rating of a watch equates to ruggedness and durability in the general outdoors. I do not own a watch for diving, per se. The last time my watch got submerged, I was installing houses for wood ducks on my pond, slipped and ended up on my hands and knees in two feet of water and another foot of muck. The YM Blue survived just fine!

50ish metres on SCUBA (Sea-Dweller) and 200 metres in a submersible (Submariner).
But, can I wear either of them in the shower ?

That's DEEP! - my deepest is a modest 128'

36m in the red sea with my old Sub ND. DM told me afterwards that a large barracuda had been eyeing up the flash from the bracelet / crystal and he was preparing to intervene !

I am a (previous) military diver... had a 16610 and wore it on just about every dive I've done. Deepest was 190' (~60m)... did a few of those, with several dives (well over 500) at depths of 100' (30m) or less. Never once had a problem with my Submariner. Did take a Chronosport UDT on a 60' dive for an hour once... moisture somehow got into it and the watch never worked properly again.

Yep...that and blowfish. Sometimes we'd grab one and let it puff up, then spin it back and fourth between us, playing catch from a couple feet away from each other!
