Green striated 146 are like USD2000-2500 in good condition (there will be some ambering of the celluloid - a perfect one will go 3500+). That's not too bad for a person of your means Steve ;-)

I would love to find a set with the leather zippered pen pouch. The quest is 1/2 the fun! Regards! ![]() ![]()

I have somewhere around 100 fountain pens including sets. I have been collecting since 1990 or so... so that is quite some time to establish a collection. The green striated / striped Montblanc pen set was a grail to me. It was wonderful to find and I would have likely paid double or above for the set in the condition I was able to find it in. It was a once in a lifetime acquisition in my estimation. Eventually I will be liquidating my collection, but this set will remain. Perhaps my heirs will appreciate as much as I do. ![]()

How do you guys rate this one:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VINTAGE-M...gAAOSwwbdWL48K Is it possible to get the clip and trimmings re-plated 18K? The snowcap looks very yellowed, so I'm fearful that the celluloid will be very fragile and brittle. Kai you must think I'm loaded ....$4K for a 50 year old pen ![]() After using a BBBO for years I doubt I could handle a skinny 'medium' nib. How is this the advert says "Ask for a discount" OK how about 90% off ![]() ![]() http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-MONTB...0AAOSwl9BWL41I That is my grail!!!! ![]() What say you Montblanc enthusiasts?????? ![]() By the way, cool set Richard!!

The actual price of just the FP in its rarity is about $1500.00. If you add the pencil for the set the pencil is about $400.00. The set with the leather crocodile zippered case as original will cost about $3000.00. But worth every penny if it is indeed in exquisite condition. This is why I called the set a "once in a lifetime acquisition". They are as rare as anything I collect. From an original ...not messed with... 1893s Morgan silver dollar in XF condition to a Cyanotrichite mineral specimen from the 1980s. Just superb and something to watch for and dream about...!

You can always get the hardware replated with no problem. Offer $1600.00 for that pen. If you can acquire it, sleep well and write well! Love it!

One photo for this pen doesn't look too right. Also, this is not quite green striated, but rather grey striated... However, I do agree with Richard. If all other is good, US$1600 will be a good buy. |

I just happened to acquire a FP from 1955 that was in as new condition and never inked. Wouldn't you have loved to live in the 50's and walk into a MB pen shop and purchase that MB for $46.00? Which was a fortune in those days.....! Back To The Future comes to mind. ![]() ![]() ![]()
