No disrespect. I do respect and admire the chrono function, but whenever I am about to pull the trigger, I find myself hesitating since I just don't find a practical use for it in my everyday life. Maybe it doesn't matter so long as you appreciate the engineering of such a mechanical complication.

To the OP, seems like you really love your chronos so I would say go with what you love!
Primarily for the aesthetics of the sub dial. Secondary, an admiration for the engineering behind the complication.

Thanks for that.
Do you therefore see more variety in a chrono and a diver or a Rolex and an AP (regardless of complication)

Don't just save AP for 'special occasions'..mix it in all the time.

Great thought to change things up.

From a variety standpoint, the ideal config would be a diver and a chrono, from two different brands. With this in mind, I think Rolex beats AP in the diver department, if nothing else, for tradition alone. AP's 26320 is gorgeous, breathtaking.

I understand completely. This is the reference I am looking to buy. Being from the UK however, the desirability of the Daytona far out weighs the Sub however.

I would keep the YM as it has a killer blue dial and some platinum to boot. Plus it does all the jobs that the SubC does. That way you have a diver when the need arises. if you are a sucker for chronos though , then do the trade as suggested.

I am on board with keeping the YM with the RO! Either way I think they AP will see more wrist time then you expect.

26320 and Daytona have similar dials so I would probably keep the sub, but at least get different dial colours.

Ah, but then we are back to rational thinking. Desirability aside, it would only make sense if it's the one you prefer. As you love chronos, however, this shouldn't be a problem. As suggested above, one in each color would be nice.

The thing I don't like about your proposed trade is getting rid of two extremely versatile, good looking watches for a watch you're going to just wear for special occasions...don't think you'll get the bang for your buck.

So I'm a big fat no.

Daytona would become the daily watch, reserving the AP for special occasions.
Thoughts?
thats what i have

ss black 116520 and a white 26320

along with an iwc amg titanium.

i wear the daytona and the ROC equally often

ROC with silver, black or blue dial? if silver, keep the SubC, if black or blue, keep the Daytona.
Either way, do it!

I sold three of my six Rolexes to buy two APs, and so can understand where you're coming from.

My advice would be to not consider desirability, resale values etc. Make sure you end up with the watches that you really want to wear.

I would get a ROO in a special material, ceramic or FC, it's with RG what AP makes best IMO, or the iconic Jumbo, not a huge fan of ROC for my part

Add an AP to your collection, yes. Maybe some creative flipping if that's required...
