It is terrifying how close the reps are getting. Making it harder to purchase anything used unless it is from an AD.

Terrible so sorry hopefully you can get your money back. Like another poster said buy from a trusted seller. These fakes are getting better all of the time and to me the panerais are one of the hardest ones for me to authenticate and I have been in the Highend watch market for 12 years. I just really hope you can get your money back.

Very sorry to hear it and thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I'm going to look at a used 111F tomorrow and I did my research, listing all the details based on trustworthy pics from forum members. I will also be wearing my 217 as it's 6498 is pretty much the same as the 111 (with the exception of the platine finishing of course).

It's just a real shame we have to go through such great lengths to insure we are getting the real thing...

There's many good sellers, here and on TZ, etc. Better to stick with one of them than chasing the lowest offer.

I unfortunately never got my money back from the seller, he ceased all communication and I have only his email and cell phone number to go by. I did contact my local sheriffs department but there's not much they can do also so I lost out on 4,000 dollars so I wasn't looking for the cheapest deal. I went with the seller because he was local and convenient.

How did you pay?

Also, I don't see any threads on WUS for a 111 at $4000 in the Aug 30th timeframe, do you have a link to the original thread?

I'd never even consider paying cash for a watch if I had doubts about its authenticity.

Sorry to hear this, it is a scarily close replica, most of us would have been caught out. Does go for buying bricks and mortar store.

Are replicas of Pams that good for real? I'm a Rolex guy and I can normally tell by just looking and if not once I get it in my hands. It is scary!.

All bets are off at this point, and you were clearly scammed. He may be on other forums with the same user name. So, please post what name he was using on WUS, as well as the serial number to the watch. If you have his real name and phone number, post that too. Hopefully this thread will then pop up for anyone else searching that SN or his user name/contact info prior to purchasing another fake from him.

Lesson learned. Buy the seller is key, this guy had only 48 posts and a $1K drop would have put me off, as would the warnings from Jocke et al, never pay cash if there's anyone making such warnings or if you harbor any doubt. Sorry you got scammed, hopefully others can learn from it.

Interesting read... he also sold a PAM 90 also recently. I wonder what the likelihood that was fake too... If there was an actual transaction.

Just FYI...

I searched just the first part/name of that email ("Pedhabidda") and got a few hits on Google as a screen name on a couple replica watch forums (sadly, yes, they exist).

I also found a couple other email addresses that he might be using:

pedhabidda@yahoo.com and awiboo1@yahoo.com

What's scary is I've heard of Panerai ADs actually being fooled by replicas that come in for authentication/service. If I ever buy one, I'm ponying up for the AD.
