Any idea of the serial? How long has this been sitting in the case? 40% seems like a desperation move on the AD.

If you don't need the money and/or don't have a better use for it, go ahead and buy.
In the distant past unwanted Rolex models became very expensive later.

OP said "it isn't a highly sought after style watch..."

To OP - get it if you really like it. The 40% off is generous imho.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. It applies for anything! Well thought, thanks for sharing.

I think of it this way...if an AD feels he has to discount it brand new at 40% in order to move it, it may not be realistic to expect re-sell it to a second owner at any kind of worthwhile profit, if for any profit at all. If you like it and want to own it, it's a good buy, otherwise, not really.

I'd only buy it if I was prepared to take on all the work and responsibility of trying to sell something that could potentially take quite a while.

When Milgauss was originally released, it was not popular at all. Then after being discontinued for a few decades, they re-released it with much fanfare and it became really popular, especially the green dial model. However the enthusiasm has passed over the years and it is not very sought after anymore. Things often go in cycles it seems.

40% off a watch you're not really sure you want isn't a good deal. If you want it, get it. If you are only buying because you think it might be a good flip later, I'd save my money. The Milgauss market isn't nearly as big as other models.

I like the Milgauss so I think it is a steal, but I'm not buying it (I already have my two) so it is up to you.

I love the model, with that white dial, so it sounds great to me. It also sounds somehow sketchy. Was it a return? I can't imagine finding any stainless steel Oyster professional series model at 40% off at any AD I know of.

Going to be hard to sell it here with only 8 posts....

Something to think about....reputable stores and reputable dealers have just that, reputation that helps back their sale.

Over the past few years I have seen plenty of 40% off sales at local dealers on various watches. These are always when they drop a line or have a piece they just can't sell. I have seen Hamilton, Ball and Frank Mueller for example sold off this way. So far there hasn't been anything I was even remotely interested in owning though , so always a pass.

The only reason the 40% off caught my eye is because I've been searching for either a white Milgauss or 16570 ExpII for a while now. I think I'll pull the trigger

I love the Milgauss, and when I have the funds, I would like it to be my first Rolex.

After seeing the watch yesterday at the AD, they are selling it as a new, unworn watch but without the Rolex warranty card, just a warranty through the store itself. I'm still skeptical. It is an M serial but with all stickers still. Thoughts?

The AD is telling you it's "new and unworn" yet doesn't have the warranty card? I'm pretty sure Rolex doesn't want their authorized dealers selling pieces without Rolex warranties as "new."

Correct. That's what they explained to me.
