This to me is the definitive advice from a watchy-type professional. It would never enter my head to get a winder after reading that post.
Thank you for highlighting this post. I think I'm going to join the "No Winder" club.

Now I know why both Lange and Patek provide winders with their perpetuals. It's to encourage wear & tear so you will be forced to service them!

I am pro winder also.
I dont really believe in wear and tear of the movement, as it's the same as wearing your watch (and probably more gentle than swinging your arms all day).

I use winders only for my GMT's because in my opinion (especially with my vintage GMT) I'd rather have them keeping the watch wound than having to pull out the crown and adjust the hands several times a week.
For some reason in my mind the Vintage just feel a bit more fragile so I'd rather not keep pulling out the crown all the time. Being in a very humid place, it also helps to prevent wear on the seals in the crown.
And obviously, the convenience of not having to keep setting the watch.

I have several watches and I like them ready to wear. My first Rolex does not have a quick date set, so I do like my watch winder.

I used to have a winder for my Speedy Pro, but it would never keep the watch wound. So I threw the winder away but kept the watch.
