Thanks for all the input everyone! I barely wear the Pepsi because I want it to stay really minty. bought the watch a month ago and wore it like 4 times. If I see a new scratch on the Pepsi I'm like ughhhh. if I bought the BLNR I would get the PCL brushed and wear it practically every day. This is my dilemma.

You are using the term "upgrade" as if it is factually based.
What about that would be an upgrade for you?

If you plan on keeping it, a well worn watch looks better than a minty one IMHO

I was originally going to say no as I got the impression the pepsi had been with you awhile. Your later comment remarked you had only had the pepsi a few months and were afraid to wear it. They are wonderful....but not that rare yet anyway. If you don't have a connection to it and would rather have the BLNR go for it. It's hard to beat an old school GMT 2 though, I would add the BLNR vs replace. If a 5 digit reference has a chance of appreciating well in the future then good versions of these have a good chance to do it.

If you really have moved on from a watch flip it. But make sure it's not just the lust for a new watch Theys getting in the way. It's easier to add and flip later than flip and regret.

I think this makes the most sense. I might as well enjoy it and get the BLNR next. These and the Kermit subs seem to be commanding a pretty high premium over the other 5 digit sports models, and I don't think this trend will change in the future. If I do decide to trade/sell in the future I don't think a few more scratches would make a huge difference to the new buyer. And enjoying and wearing the watch would make all the difference to me. Thanks everyone!

My regret

Owning a 16710 "Coke" and selling it to buy a 116710 LN. I wish I had kept it and just saved and added the LN and later then BLNR. Yes I like GMT's and travel!

If you think you would actually wear the BLNR, then I'd say go for it.

Part of the rapport that develops with a watch is owning and having it worn for many years.
The 16710 may be a good vintage, but I don't think you will ever develop that bond with it since you're too afraid to wear it.
But in general , it is best to add, not flip. However, you should have your daily wearer sorted first.

I would just save up for the BLNR and hold onto the 16710. I have and love both.

I would not call it an upgrade. But I would agree with some that say the best watch is the one that you are going to wear. And if the Pepsi is going to sit in the safe and never get worn in fear of a scratch and the blnr will get daily use, by all means flip away.

If need be I would save and get the blnr whenever I could. I so t think that Pepsi is going to be easy to find in a few years.

All input would be greatly appreciated.
I used to have a 16710 Pepsi, Box & Papers. I flipped it for a Kermit. I regretted it ever since. I have the BLNR now, since I can't afford the WG Pepsi Ceramic. The BLNR the bracelet and bezel are light years ahead of the 16710. If you crave the newer watch then go for it. If not, then perhaps save for alittle bit and in a year or so some BLNR's should be popping up on the used market for a good deal.

I own a 1670 and a BLNR. The BLNR gets more wrist time. If you can afford to keep the 16710 good, If not and it does not get used then move it.

I own a 16710 and I desire a BLNR, also. But I wouldn't part with the 16710 for anything! This is a good approach - keep the Pepsi and save for the BLNR.

It's what I'm doing. ;-)

I just used the search function for "What does BLNR refer to or mean?" and came up with over 20 pages of results showing posts with the term BLNR in the content.

So lets lend a hand to a fellow forum member and make this simple. :)

BLNR refers to the Steel Ceramic bezeled GMT with the BLue and Black or NoiR bezel.

It became the nickname for the watch - BL from the Blue and NR from Noir or Black from the bezel colors.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Sarah, wearing my 16710 as I type. :)
