Of course talking about the 39mm, just said I saw the perp movement, almost the same looking as the 39-41mm if I am not mistaken, all are stunning

Yes but a little boring next to the Dato IMHO

Under 60K??? Wouldn't think so low, even pre owned but not following that model

This is much more accurate.

1815 Chrono is a relative bargain and a great under-the-radar dress Chrono. Dato up-down is heavy (especially in platinum) but I don't think it wears like a hockey puck. 5070R is just plain terrific.

5070 also coming off IMO.

Strange times.
J is by far the least desirable model in collector's eyes, irrespective of the numbers produced. (No offense to your lovely model, just echoing sentiment not my feeling). Always has been.

A 5070G just sold a few days ago at Govberg for 67k. There is no 5070G listed on chrono24 for under 64k and that includes the majority of fake offers.

The market in general is slowing down but those two models are two of the most in demand pieces produced in the last few decades, both in relatively low production numbers. I saw a 5070P sell a few weeks ago for 130k and a 5970G went to a colleague of mine a few weeks before for 140+ (price of a new 5270).

Yes I am talking preowned lnib w box, papers & warranty.

I do not have a relation with a Patek AD that affords me access to discounts...
I have to hope that someone is not taking a 20-30k hit after buying new?

If the OP wants a date function the dato would be at the top of my list.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I appreciate each one. I think I will pick up a speed master and toy around with it while I continue to save. Today I am leaning towards a patek 5711 and a speedy pro as a great small collection.

Beautiful collection. The R is one of the nicest looking watches ever made IMO..

Lovely pics, Dato is the real standout for me, and that's it's ugly side.

+1

I would add that the 1815 chronograph is also a good option, and pre-owned they can be found for way under $50K.

I'm also a fan of manual wind chronographs and can't be happier with the dato and 5070

Best value manual wind chronograph?

I know I'm out in the woods here but the 5070 does nothing for me. The dial and case just aren't my cup.

Dato up/down would be my pick

Edit: I should say if one needs a date. Otherwise I realllllllly like the 5170Gs and 5170R. Perfect size and really nothing to complain about aside from production etc Given datos have poor resale, I can forgive whatever resale the 5170 might have easily.

What do you Americans say? "Cover all the bases"? Amazing threesome, all chronos but very different watches.

Dato 39mm for me. Amazing watch, that was revolutionary when released and as said, even Dufour has one

I was going to bring up the Centigraphe but as much as I like and own a FPJ --- would clearly prefer the PP or Lange in this case. So hard to read the dial...

When you write 'best value' chronograph, then I wouldn't be looking at ALS or PP.

The moonwatch is a great all rounder. I have the model with the see through back and I love it. A classic that will last forever.

How about an IWC Rattrapante in platinum? 3712-05. It's a 40mm manual wind double split chrono. Image1465949694.293766.jpg

Posted this on the subject, 3 manuals, a little above your budget, though the first Datograph in 39mm is not
