Advantages of buying from a local AD... I would never pay to have my watch resized from where it was purchased. If I took another watch in or took my watch to another AD, I would expect to pay.

Was this just for labor or did they furnish a new link?

It included a link (stainless steel) plus "labor."
I had recently serviced the Tank Francaise and a Tank Chrono there, and had bought a new croc band. The Chrono has since died by the way. They wanted over $800 to fix it. They said no to a goodwill repair and no to a discount. So I told them I would rather let the piece of sh!t die than pay almost half the cost of the watch over the years on service and repair. Sorry for venting! |

Many moons ago, when I didn't know how to remove a bracelet, so that I can put a strap, I went to this Chinese watchmaker, who used to charge me either $10 dollars or $5, depending on his mood. I had realized then, that I was spending too much money for strap or bracelet replacement. I bought a Bergeon tool and learned to do it.
Now, that I do it myself, I have discovered, that the watchmaker, had put so many scratches on my watch (Old Navitimer II). So, in essence, I paid him money to put scratches on my watch. Lesson learned: Buy your tools and do it yourself. If you scratch your lugs or caseback, it's your doing and you didn't pay someone to do it. My dos centavos. |
