I prefer the 5170 in WG as the strong white markers look better with the WG case. If I was going RG I'd go with cream dial.

I hear you on the large and heavy. However understand that there are those of us on the larger side. Taller, heavier- (Im just tall) and what I have always hated about Pateks (although in my mind has always been the premium brand) is the fact that most watches were 36mm, 38mm and the occasional 39mm.

Im loving the fact that they are getting more modern in size. Im not a fan of the clown car 46-48mm watches that some brands do. But I do think that 42mm for me is a perfect size.

As much as I love my 5980 at 40.5mm Im finding it a tad too small. In the future, the 5980 will go to fund my holy grail- the 5270R-001.

So while the 5170 and 5960 are both gorgeous- if I was to put on my "First World Problem" hat and decide which 50k time piece to buy, Id lean towards the 5960 because of the contrasting dial. I find that gorgeous.

In fact I wish my 5905 had the contrasting dial.

If the 5070 is in the race then 5070 for me for sure. I had the 5960P black dial and it's a fantastic watch, but for me the 5070 is pretty much perfection in terms of the dial design and overall balance.

I really love wearing this 5960. It is a great everyday watch and very interesting to look at. I wear it with jeans, shorts and more dressed up. I personally like that the chrono is the same color as the rest of the dial on this version but I really like the entire 5960 line.

Tough to find an unpolished 5070G. Just missed one a few weeks ago. The few Ive seen have been too over-polished for me.

For my wrist, I find the 5170 to be the perfect size. The 5960 is too thick and the 5070 is too large for me. But it really depends on how these watches wear on your wrist and if you like the AC+chrono combination better than a straight forward manual wind chrono.

Both the 5170 and the 5960 can be obtained at a reasonable price these days, which is a good thing if you are looking to buy.

Yes, the 5960P models are quite reasonable now on the secondary market as they took a big hit compared to the higher list price (they never should've listed for 90K). Only a bit more than the 5960 steel.

I can only judge by the look of the watch. It just seems better proportioned.

The original 5960P has always been a huge favourite of mine.

Sadly, the 5170 does not do anything for me.

So my choice is simple...........5960P

Of course, a PP manual is a thing of beauty

Black or blue yes would be my choice, never liked much the grey, even before I knew they were falling down on resale

Nice but I definitely prefer the blue dial on this one, any watch which comes in blue dial usually has my preference, but sure much more beautiful than the 5960...
