Having went from 4 SS to 1 PM back to SS again I have decided I like SS more at this point in my life. I am still in the experimental stages where I like to swap back and forth between different SS models to experience them at minimal loss or sometimes gain if purchased right preowned. PM is a permanent decision. You will loose several thousand dollars if you decide it's not for you. I would experience owning as many SS models as you can first to make sure there is nothing you need to have in the next little while. The DD isn't going anywhere at all. It will always be readily available.

I got the WG DD40 and was planning on adding a SS sub as a daily beater. My plans have changed since living with the DD40 for a while as I would be content for it to be my one and only. It seems to be appropriate for every occasion so far. If I do get another, while it will most likely be a sub, I'm positive it will be PM. Otherwise, I know it wouldn't get any wrist time.

DD 40 in this instance. It makes a great partner with your SDc. All basis are covered. My 2-cents: SDc may not get as much wrist time as the DD40, but it is very nice to have when you go to the beach.

WG DD 40 Green Dial is probably going to be my next purchase.
Really do wish they had released it in platinum |

I think you will not enjoy the many SS watches as much as you would the one PM that you are already in love with. (You probably wouldnt be asking this question otherwise, yes?)
If i could afford a PM watch and it was what i wanted, i wouldn't care about missing out on other watches. |

Seems like the green dial has become the new favorite dd40, both rg and wg are getting major love on trf.
I'd without any single ounce of doubt go for the pm. Nothing like knowing you have a full gold monster on your wrist. I prefer the RG out of the two but both are winners in my book.

I'm kind of in the same boat! Just picked up a YM with blue dial and now the WG DD40 with blue dial is calling me!! I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger either. Let us know what you decide.

I went from 6 SS models down to 3 and a BLRO. I have no regrets whatsoever.....but the remaining SS pieces don't get much wrist time.

i would take multiple SS over a PM if this was to be my entire collection
however if i already had at least 1 SS, as you do, i would choose a PM over multiple additional SS watches

I have been weeding out my collection as well. I gave my ss sub and ss Pepsi to my two boys. Sold my white as Daytona. Going to sell my tt date just. My rotation now is between my ssym2 and my tt bluesy ceramic sub. I would love to be a one Rolex man but am ok with these two for now.

Update and still no decision made
Currently I'm in limbo with the Daytona as I'm being mucked about by my AD.. This may leave me at the back of the line as I'd have to go to another so guess it would rule out getting one for the next year, waiting on an update from the AD's head office which should be soon and then I can make a full decision. After trying on and comparing all the watches in question my decision has come down to this (be warmed ones not a Rolex ) and obviously my 116600 isn't going anywhere. Option 1 116600 116500 (white) PP 5167 Option 2 116600 228239 (green) Now to throw a couple of things in the mix, if the Daytona isn't going to happen then option one would just be the SDc and PP as I'm not paying over retail on a Daytona, also with the four AD's I've looked at the DD40 discount on this WG/green model are slimmer then that of the other dial variants. Or dare I say it I've been living with only the 116600 for the past 5-6 months and doing fine so maybe I could be a one watch man |

Hey Sam
The DD looks great on you, and along with the SD offers a great two-watch collection. And the DD is a true classic. I personally would prefer more variety and I would get bored eventually of just having two watches. So I would stick to SS for now. I can also of course vouch for just how nice the Daytona is and how well it compliments the SD; my SD wasn't getting any wrist time as you know, but since I put it on a Rubber-B, it is a great weekend alternative to the Daytona. Owning a gold watch is a grail for many people, and the green DD is truly magnificent; but personally, I'm going to wait until I'm older before going down that path. I'm sure there will come a point in my life when I just want simplicity, and at that point I will give the kids my collection and treat myself to one special piece...but that's a way off yet.

I'd add the 116500 and stay put.
Save the rest of the funds and add the DD40 when the time is right. |

Had a call yesterday from the AD's head office (after speaking the the Rolex rep) and have been told my Daytona should be with me over the next few months.
Also since starting this thread the simplistic beauty of the Exp won me over and I've already added that to my collection. So hopefully by years end I'll have the Daytona giving me a nice rounded collection of three. This is leaving me to mull over the option of SS YMII Vs WG DD40 (green) but I'll be a little off financial wise so will have until the year new to make my decision. But nothing wrong with a long term goal to keep me focused |

Did the same thing. Passed over the daytona's and ended up going with a WG DD with the green dial. It's special on another league than any of the SS pieces IMHO and worth the money in that sense. Especially if you have even one sport watch.

I personally would prefer to have a choice of multiple SS pieces and that's exactly what I have. If I was to go PM, then it would be white gold because YG doesn't suit me.
I think you have the right idea about going multiple SS apart from the YMII. As you say, it's Marmite but there are so many nicer references than that. Pick a GMT instead. Good luck

Well that may or may not be the case, depends on whether you bought it at full MSRP or at discount / pre-owned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I would get the gold DD. Like you I start leaning towards having fewer watches but only quality pieces that you really like wearing. At the end of the day you can only wear one at the time.
