Nice watch but I wouldn't call it blingy.

Yes, it's shiny and IMO a bit blingy for me. Prefer a smooth bezel .

Don't kid yourself, it's not stealth mode. I went platty mainly for the smooth bezel. Of course, ice blue pretty noticeable too. Haven't gotten one comment on it yet and it's 6 moths. I have to say, every guy on TRF prefers professional sports models - but the DD40 is an amazing watch - I'm even considering this green / black / blue dial cause it's dressy enough but still a tank. I love mine. I'd say, do it but realize it's shiny and will sparkle. Post your incoming
My weapons of choice for any occasion which would merit wearing a DD are either the PP 5146G, or FP Journe Octa RDM. Both are a lot more restrained than the DD, and arguably both are much more interesting watches, but this is clearly very subjective.

There's a part of me which really rather fancies a DD (used), but I don't think I want to have to deal with people's reactions to it. The notion that "nobody notices it" is plainly ludicrous. Maybe nobody says anything, but you can be sure that everybody will notice a DD and often from a long way off. It's extremely shiny and glittery and very well-marketed. If you keep it hidden up your sleeve, no-one will see it, but where's the fun in that?

I have the WG green dial and honestly I've only had 2 people comment on it. One was a girl (and yes because it was "shiny") and the other an older gentleman who was wearing a 36mm and wanted to check out the 40mm apparently. Otherwise I've not really gotten much of any extra attention. However, I definitely think that its a watch that people notice in the sense of draws the eye more often and not. SO don't worry about peoples reactions unless you're wearing the yellow gold model. That's a bit on the showy side...

I'm thinking long and hard about the WG and Green dial.
Also torn with RG both Green and either Chocolate.
WG and blue seems just a little too much like a blue datejust to me.
(or rather reminds me of one).
Obviously it's different, but I like there are no green faced DJ's.
Just IMHO of course.

Actually I don't mind playing now you see the ice blue and now you don't (under the cuff). I wear it for my enjoyment not others.

I have owned the DD 40. It is very sensitive to the choices made. In white gold with silver face....my favourite...it is elegant and not obtrusive. But start to use yellow gold and the more colourful faces and everything changes. Serious bling.
For me, having owned both, I prefer the new Cellini models. More elegant. I would not go back to a DD40, although I can still see the appeal.

Yes I prefer the white gold too to yellow or rose. I suppose it depends on your colouring, white gold is only one that would suit me as I wear stainless steel only. I don't really like yellow gold tbh so I wouldn't buy one however yellow suits lots of people.

Agreed this is a bit harsh and I disagree, not everyone knows the DD...
Certainly the WG and for that matter the smooth bezel PL have far less wrist presence then the YG.

I would not use the word bling for the description of the DD. Wrist presence is what I would say and it has an ample supply of that. It is a different watch from a SS sport model and part of that difference is the presence. A great watch and if you can buy it right you will not regret it.

The WG and blue dial looks great in person. Fluted bezels are intended to be a bit flashy, but I wouldn't classify this watch as blingy. Now, this watch with the diamond bezel could be too blingy.

I really like the WG DD except for the Roman numerals.

I wear a very old YG DD as a retired senior executive of a Fortune 50 company and never felt "over watched". I don't think my watch ever drew any attention over the 25 years I've worn it. Us watch nuts obsess over watches whilst 99.99 percent of people don't know and don't care.

Buy the darn watch and wear it proudly and with no apologies.

P.S. The new YG DD is $34K. A price of $25 soulds too good to be true.

"Not if you know a guy...."

This comment confuses me. A "guy" can sell a completely new genuine Rolex watch with a full valid warranty for $9,000 off a $34,000 watch.

How does this work?

I went to the AD to try on a few things

Including this dd40!

I like it. As you move your wrist, the light catches the hands and romans. It seems not hard to read in real life. Plus, different lighting brings out different looks on the watch.

The deconstructed romans look their best, perhaps, with this version, as the white gold markers and case looks modern and remains elegant.

While I do like the pt romans very much, I think this one may win out as it does look a little more like a modern classic.

Very understated . Most people will think it's a SS watch
Very nice color on a WG dd. I would loved to have one for daily wear

40mm DD is a superb choice! BTW did you try on the Cellini 39mm in WG? The Dual Time is growing on me as an alternative for suit days and would definitely fly under the radar.
