I owned the Smurf and although it wasn't loud by watch standards, I did feel it was to heavy and beautiful for some occasions.
I still needed a daily wearer and a special gold piece for well, special occasions. Try to keep the BLNR and ADD a Smurf. It will save you money in the long run... Just ask me how I know...lol

Compared to the YG, the 116619 is dull

I was just in at my AD looking at both the BLNR and the Smurf. Love the look of the Smurf, but the heft of the watch is something to look out for. Anyone know what it tips the scale at? I have a tool diver watch that is ~200g and I do end up noticing the weight during the day. My 16610 I find to be the most comfortable watch in my small collection. So, for me, I'd say keep the BLNR. Though, if you decide to sell it....

Go for it! My favorite Rolex by far. The blue is really nice and does pop but not in a bad way. I find myself noticing the blue out of the corner of my eye and love it.
Love the substantial feel, and white gold has a great tone. I traded in my green sub for one which is a very similar upgrade to the BLNR. No regrets. Talk to DavidSW, he's got a number of 116619s at a great price, that's where I got mine from, the AD couldn't touch the pricing. |

I would do it. You only live once and you can always get anther BLNR latter if it bothers you.

It sure does look good on you. If it's not the amount of money from the account that's the issue but just spending that much on a watch, I say get it. You clearly want it.

To be candid, shaved and very vascular forearms call attention. Maybe the kind of attention you don't mind getting but attention nonetheless. And I'm not being critical or judgmental in the least. You look fit for sure but I wouldn't sweat the watch in and of itself. I wouldn't do it. I owned a blnr for awhile and thought of going to a wg sub. I eventually became one of those people that wouldn't pay pm prices for a watch that looks like steel. Just a preference. I'd consider what I could get with the additional monies. For the difference in price, you could have a few great steel references. A blnr, hulk and a something else for sure.

I don't think its too much. First off, its so iconic that a million watchmakers have copied the styling, so the 99% of the world that isn't into watches won't think twice about it. In normal everyday lighting its not as eye catching as you might expect. And finally, 40mm is what, an inch and a half?

I flipped my BLNR for my Smurf just over 2 years ago. I do miss the GMT and will likely replace it at some point but I would not go back. The Smurf is absolutely amazing and is perfect as a daily watch in my opinion. You will not regret it at any point!!

The Smurf is a great watch and on my short list of watches to add to my collection. I have owned numerous PM watches and my experience is that most AD's can not touch our Trusted Sellers for price and service. You should be able to find a very nice used example for 23-23.5K. Save your money and get it as the depreciation on the PM models is large. With what you save you will be halfway back to buying another SS sport model Rolex.

I like the Smurf, but if I were in your position I couldn't justify the change.

I tried one on at that place in NYC (I suffer from CRS...) and was very impressed by the feel. I love the weight of the PM.
For me, personally, I couldn't imagine buying one new. Especially with PM watches, the savings buying used is just huge. YUGE. I like the stealth feature - few folks but yourself (and those of us "in the know") will think it's anything other than stainless. As for the blue, my watch gets noticed, but I think it's more because of the TT and the blingy gold than it is the blue face and bezel. I write this knowing that the colors are different between the watches... Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
