I've never set the GMT hand.

Me too.

As I said previously, there are two reasons my 24 hour hand is set to home time. When traveling away from home to another time zone, it is the quickest way to use the watch. Jump the hour hand to local time and done - the 24 hour hand is already telling me the primary 2nd time I want to track - home time. Secondly, I'm already familiar with the offsets to most places around the world as they relate to my home time. I know the time difference from where I live to, Tokyo, Hawaii, Chicago and New York for example. I do not know how these place relate to UTC. Sure, with some study I could memorize an entirely new set of offsets around the world to UTC but I already know most of these against my home time, so why not use that instead?

Right now I have a good friend in Michigan and I'm tracking the time there so I know when to call her. I know she's three hours ahead of me so as soon as I dropped her off at the airport I turned the bezel to three hours ahead. I have no clue how the time in Lansing relates to Greenwich Mean Time.

UTC really has very little significance to me. Now, if I lived in Europe, closer to it and was more in tune to how it relates to other time zones, maybe I'd use it. But that's not my case.

Thanks for spelling out how you do it. I don't doubt your methodology, I just see it as a different technique. Is it the case that you usually have redundant time showing on the dial (i.e., at home)? For me, "home" isn't as important as having UTC since I actually use that time zone regardless of whether I am at home or traveling. Life of an aviator...

I set the 24 hour hand to my home time.

Hour hand to local time due to the abilty to quick jump the hour hand without stopping the watch.

I also often rotate the bezel to check or monitor a time zone of interest. For a couple of zones of repeated interest, I know exactly where to set the triangle.

I am a pilot, so yes, I set the GMT hand to UTC, and the hour hand to my local or home time.

Here in OZ it's even more difficult:

Australian Western Standard Time (AWST) UTC+8:45

That's the beauty of the watch, each person can set it in a way that best suits their needs.

Yes, at home both hour hands are in synch, displaying home time, just like the GMT Master functioned for 30ish years. Right now the bezel is three hours ahead tracking the Eastern TZ while my friend is in Michigan.

I'd be interested to hear from long haul pilots that wore the original GMT Master. Seems to me there are two ways to have used it for pilots. One would have been to set both hour hands to GMT (back then that's what it was called, lol) and track home time by turning the bezel. I'd think the more common way would be to have the hands set to home or local time and the bezel turned to display GMT.

I have a BLNR GMT . Travel weekly within the US.
24 hr hand on home time zone , hour jump hand on
local time zone where I'm traveling ... I love the
complication, watch doesn't look too shabby either.

I do the most traditional, hour hand set to local, 24hr hand to UTC, spin the bezel as needed for the time zone I'm traveling to.

I suppose if I was going to be in a non local time zone for a while, i'd change the hours hands to reflect that and use the bezel for my old local time.

Great function

OK slight correction. Apparently only applies to Eucla:

UTC+8:45: Australian Central Western Standard Time (ACWST)
