I see someone is already trying to flip a DSSD on TRF's For Sale Section. Might be the first of many!
Anyone tried "the beast" on under a button cuff work shirt? I guess there might be a few button cuffs that will need to be taken out a tad. AJF |

Hard to believe that many folks meet the constraints of the poll. None around for me to see as yet.
Didn't vote, but was itching to as I don't need to hold it to feel confident of my views on the watch. |

I tried one on today. Pretty nice. I love how adjustable the band is!

Anybody ever worn or seen the Tag Heuer Aquagraph? It's similar in many ways; mainly size.

Well its the most metal you can get for the price three sea-dwellers in one. I guess you get the most for your money in this one.

I was thinking the same thing
Didn't vote, but from pics, I have to say I don't like it at all. It looks to me like some kind of funny watch, good for nothing, expensive, and hard to justifie.

The impression I get of the DSSD is a normal size dial stuffed into a large case. |

Would love to vote, but apparently I'm incorrect by reading the thread & following direction. As of this post, 119 individuals already own or have tried on this watch???? I'm pulling out the mighty BS flag on this one!
I'll vote as soon as I try it on. Want to vote yes now, but can't give a 100% definitive answer until I've seen it in the flesh. Cheers. |

Ive been wearing a SD for over 30 years now. Thickness is not an issue . The current SD is about a half inch thck, and I came from a Tudor Submariner originally. When i cahnged over I thought the Sd was too thuick but it grew on me, and 30 years later its still Number 1. As for the new SDDS, it may be a bit thicker, wider, I knew that if I gave it a day or two to wear it, I would probably take the plunge and buy one. It was either go into debt , or walk away for the time being. I walked. 9856 dollars not including taxes is a huge chunk of change. This will require careful planning to pull it off.

The size is not a question for me since I have a 45.5mm PO. So I think it is one that I would wear.

Frankly, I don't believe that over a hundred people have worn one.
As usual, I find myself agreeing with Vince's analysis, except that on my wrist I actually like the taper of the bracelet. I have a 7.25 inch wrist and the clasp takes up almost the entire underside of my wrist which centers perfectly. Having a little less bracelet on the sides reduces the sense of massiveness of the case and lugs, which I didn't like in pictures, but I really do like it on the wrist.
I would love to see the rehaut go away, and the dial get bigger yet again, but the lume is so good for a Rolex, and the watch is SOOOOOOO comfortable on the wrist, that I think when people actually do get to wear one, preferably without the diver extension as there is already 18 mm of wearer adjustable play in sizing, they will find the watch is just perfect in fit. Dump the rehaut, and this is the perfect watch. Even with the rehaut, after owning Panerais, Breitlings, GP Seahawks, Bell & Ross, and so on, I still voted with my dollars yesterday. So while I basically agree with everything Vince had to say except on the bracelet taper, my vote comes out differently. I'm wearing mine as I type this, and I think it is just excellent. |

It is very clear to me that you have not had one on your wrist.

Now you have me tempted to take out the divers link...
I have 4 links on each side (plus the divers link) and it really does fit well but for some reason you have me tempted... These screws are just sooo hard to get loose at first! Whats the advantage of taking out the divers link??

I voted yes. Unless you see this watch in person and try it on you really have no idea how it really looks. The writing on the inside is NOT that noticeable like in photographs.
The dial is OK for me because it is like looking down into the watch. The domed crystal w/o a cyclops is really nice and I found the workmanship top notch. I have looked at the dial with a loop and it is perfect IMHO. =) maverick |

Too thick, like a double deck bus.
Larger size is fine with me.

First real Rolex Tool watch in years
Already practicing by wearing my WG 116509 which is the same weight .
Yes it is big and it makes a statement. I'm actually amazed by how much criticism Rolex have received for making the first real TOOL WATCH in years. Maybe we are all so concerned about showing off our watches amongst our friends that we forget the real purpose of a tool watch. Time to go for a dive and live the dream!!!

Mark, the Deepsea is truly a fantastic watch. In actuality, people are bitchin' about the watch because of its very high price (US$ 9000), considering it's only a stainless steel tool watch. If the price were set at around US$ 6000, everybody would immediately buy one and embrace the watch's size and bulk. |
