Now a few years later, I have no idea why I thought that. I don't even remember if it's because I thought they're a bit clunky, or detract from the dial.

I guess the Sub and GMT still not my favorite and find myself leaning towards other watches to actually purchase, but I definitely appreciate the sub and GMT, and own other cheap divers with the same bezel inserts I never would've considered in the past.

Just strange how your taste in watches changes. To the OP, I would say, just try out like a Seiko SXK007 to dip your toe into the diver's waters (no pun intended). You might be surprised.
Thanks for your comments.

Although my comments were what I feel about the look of the watches and not their undoubted quality(at least at this stage of my journey as you say), I was wrong to describe them in such brutal terms as to disrespect and upset forum members who own and cherish them. Cheers N

You are entitled to your opinion but one thing to think about...the Submariner has been manufactured in a very similar form for over 60 years. Just about every watch manufacturer has copied the design at point or another.

I think I am also a bit diluted to the black sub as well. When I was picking a diver for daily wear I did not want a Rolex black sub. Just did not appeal to me at all. I ended up with an Oris, which I really like, but also like the Omega PO. All that said, the hulk, smurf, bluesy, are all very beautiful watches. I love the subs with color. Without a doubt the black sub is as iconic as they get and certainly are copied like crazy. There are just so many of them I can see how they are a turn off for some.

Yeah...Rolex definitely knows how to do sunburst dials.

Say whatever you want - just don't expect to start a lame thread without taking some lumps.

Thee sub is itself a variant of the BP 50 fathoms.

Bah. I am not my watch. It would be silly to take offense at somebody not liking it.

I believe the original Sub was based on the Rolex 6202 Turn-O-Graph.

Yup! Well said. It's about as silly as coming onto a Rolex forum and bashing Rolex watches.

Easy gents everybody is entitle to an opinion.

Ive heard something like this before so let's look at what's been said. As we all know the sub is the most iconic, easily identified rolex and there is an awful lot of love for it too (including myself) however some don't get the hype simple as that.

Some of the dj's are very nice now, quite reasonably priced and look just as flash as a sub without the outlay.

Either way each model has a place somewhere in somebody's heart.
