I agree black is great looking...but maybe it's the purist and/or lover of originality in me that likes the idea of the original SMP in blue. For me, if I wanted a black faced ss sport watch, I'm going w/ a Sub (also for the same reason - the original black dialed Sub will always be The Rolex IMO...other colors look fine, but there is only one original example).

Half link works just fine. The only problem I have is the differences between the very hot Houston weather and winter. I don't bother, I just wear it loose in winter, but this can be handled with a half link if necessary. I think the SmP bracelet is one of the most comfortable going. Good luck choosing. (I like the black).

On a more serious note, I think that the Omega SMP "Bond" and the SMP 2254.50 are two iconic Omega divers. IMHO the "Bond" is meant to be blue and the 2254 is meant to be black.

I have the blue co-axial and love it. The wave pattern just seems weird to me on black. Also, If you decide to get another watch in black, you will have a variety of colors.

Its just me, but I'd go with the blue (my favorite color). But its not like you will go wrong with either. Like everyone says, compare them in person and choose the one that sings to you!

I had the blue SMP Chrono for over 18 months and loved it, but after seeing the black face and bezel in my AD I had to have it!
Another gentleman is now the proud owner of a pre loved BLUE SMP :) |

I agree. While I think the newer black SMP is a beauty, I feel it's trying too hard to be like others (read: Rolex Sub). The SMP's niche is the blue IMO...it's unique and screams Omega!

If you want an OMega...Go Blue.
I've tried the Black, and, I don't know if I'll get flamed for this, but...it almost felt too Rolexish... If you want black go for a SS sub.... |

I have a blue one. I think its a classic look. Thought about changing to a black the other day, but they told me at a Omega dealer that it would be really expensive. So I´m going to keep it blue and buy a Black Sub for the money, that way I´ll have two classic watches.
I think you should try one on your wrist and I´m pretty sure you will feel whats right for you. Good luck Fred |
