I normally don't do it for privacy reasons, but incidentally that's me in my avatar.

Mon won't put his on here because he's made a pact with the Devil and he never ages.
Looks like the young Cary Grant but he's actually 105.

I think the short answer is privacy. Many collectors on here enjoy sharing their passion but don't perhaps want to let the world know who they are and what they own. Some on the forum seem to like pictures of individuals whilst others ask prying financial questions and I personally find both quite crass but different strokes for different folks

Privacy. I have no problem posting things like "I am at X hotel in Y city" but If I also have my face in my avatar, then I'd be crazy to make posts like that. TRF regular posters may mean no harm, but there are plenty of lurkers on the forums with whom none of us are familiar

Nice painting.

I didn't know they made wrist watches when you were that age.

They didn't introduce the DD until the 1950's. You had to be in your 40's by then.

If you look closely at the watch you'll see that it's a prototype.

Off the net I know many idiots (through necessity) I'd rather them not find out about my stable just by typing rOwleX thank you very much. I also use a Japanese inspired username and I'm about as Japanese as I am a monkey.

"The definition of an avatar is something visual used to represent non-visual concepts or ideas, or is an image that is used to represent a person in the virtual world of the Internet and computers."

I used my avatar to display my watch to a virtual Rolex community. People can tell more about my taste in watches from a pic of one of mine than they could my face i'd imagine.
