Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself that some imperfection your watch has is acceptable. If not, I apologize, but why are trying to convince people to expect poor quality from their Rolex?
I have many watches that appear flawed from wear, but imperfections from the factory in this type of watch is unacceptable

Fair statement. But I guess what I was going for is to prove that cost is relative. So everyone saying "I expect perfection for the price I paid" doesn't make sense to me. To some people $300 is a lot for a watch. To some people, $36,000 isn't a lot for a watch. At what price point do you demand perfection?

Price isn't always indicitive. Any rolex should be built to the same standards and guess what, every rolex is.

+1. Maybe it's because Rolexes are in such high demand these days that many prospective buyers are willing to lower their standards and accept certain flaws as the 'norm'.

Never had any quality/assembly issues on the 7 rolex I've owned over the last 47 years. Beat hell out of my first OP in the army as I was a field soldier. It got scratched and grungy, but never missed a beat and kept time to an average +2 secs daily. All since have lived a "kinder and gentler" life, but are still built to take a beating if necessary. Says a lot about build quality.

I'm not sure what part doesn't make sense. Everyone has different expectations, so if their personal expectations are not met, the watch should be returned.
Doesn't matter if it is $30 or $30,000.
If I buy a $300 watch and it is misaligned, I may be willing to accept that, but I'm not going to convince other consumers they should feel the same. They have every right to expect perfection at that price.
It's fair to say that as you move up the price scale, you will find fewer consumers who are willing to accept flaws. If you are happy with a flawed Rolex because it is "hand made" that's great, but you may have difficulty finding company in those thoughts.

I have a bunch of G-shocks and they have never had any obvious flaws, I expect at least as good quality controll from Rolex (they have not dissappointed me so far).

No matter what it is, if you look hard enough, you will find an imperfection.

What a pity about yours. Mine is perfect with its dings and scratches. Never looked with a magnificayer and probably never will as I don't care. I wear it in rotation with my other perfect watches.

We all have to admit these are not "real" problems after all. We all can afford watches that are considerably more than most could.

I agree that if you look close enough at anything you can and will find a flaw - some greater or lesser than others.

I think bottom line is - if it bugs you, then its a problem. If it doesn't bug you then all's good.

Seems to me as if some are mixing their drinks here... For a $300 watch, i wouldn't expect 904L SS material, beautiful sapphire, ceramic bezel, white gold applied indices, etc... That to me is getting what you paid for.

But if my $300 watch has a misaligned dial, i would return it! You wouldn't expect your Kia to have a misaligned steering wheel now would you?
