Whilst true Adam, if Mick takes the Daytona; he could accurately time the 'not looking cool'. With the Explorer, you'll always know whether it's night or day in the tunnels. Mick you can't lose.

Chap,

I'm surprised to see a "what should I wear?" thread from you! But, since you ask, the Daytona. Classy, cool.

Enjoy your trip.

I'd have to say the 1655 Mick as you will be doing some exploring of a different country. Safe travels and hope you and your wife enjoy! Cheers,

There's not enough mind-bending substances on this Earth for me to imagine TRF's very own Victor Meldrew asking for advice on how to look cool

I'd wear the Exp II if I had a choice of those two. It really does look pretty, um, cool. Safe travels, Mick

Generally when I travel, no matter the destination, I like to take one of my more "under the radar" pieces. In your case I'd go with the 1655.

You need a 4 digit travel watch! Maximum cool but no one will hack your arm off for it. :)

Chaps

Many thanks for the good advice.

I will only take one watch and will be wearing it 24/7 and that is better than hiding a second one away all the time.

I am going to take the 1655 Freccione, for the reasons that have come up in this thread, these being :-

1. The 1655 is really under the radar, no one is going to notice it. Also it looks like an old watch on an old man, so it blends perfectly.

2. Freccione has the Italian connection.

3. It's an Explorer and I will be exploring.

4. I intend on getting gently plastered on the good Italian wines and the 1655 is a good vintage watch.

Many thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated.

Regards

Mick

Rolex are everywhere in Italy, particularly vintage and 5 digit models. But the 1655 would fit right in. Enjoy!

Considering that Freccione is an Italian word I's say go for it. As an Italian I can say that the white Zenith Daytona is much more popular than the Explorer, which will mostly go unnoticed if that's what you're looking for.

But, as an Italian, I'm becoming more annoyed every day of this stereotypes (and Yes, Sky21, it's you who I am thinking of in case you're wondering).

The Explorer is an excellent choice.

Remember these two rules in Italy....

Explorer = Exudes Coolness

Cappuccino after 11am = Not Cool (Only straight up espresso after 11am)

Enjoy your trip.

Don't be annoyed, unless you know a country, you tend only to hear the negative things. There isn't a country in the world with zero crime, but some have better reputations than others. I've worked all over Italy and many other countries worldwide wearing a TT blue sub and only ever felt threatened close to home in a London petrol (gas) station! If people are ignorant it's our job to educate them.
