If it has to be a Rolex, Platona (assuming it can be had for 50k).

If it can be any watchmaker, I don't have a definite just yet.

So I'll qualify my choice. I was going by how far the budget would take me at an AD, and Platona is way out of reach. But if we include gray market I'd go Platona.

Would be really hard but if I had to choose either a platinum DD or the WG Daytona with the blue dial the reference escapes me at the moment

This for sure!

The problem with the platona is that it's not much watch, but it's a lot of money. A steel Daytona is just as good.

I would never spend that kind of cash on a watch to begin with but if I did, it would not be from a mass produced assembly line brand like Rolex. Patek is the way to go.

One watch to rule them all

A lot of non WIS people out there throw the name Patek out into the conversation when they see me talk highly of Rolex , so with that kind of money I would have to shut them up and go with a Patek, and then also get me a $100 Invicta as a daily beater.

I was never a huge fan of the Daytona, but it's grown in me and it's a Rolex icon. Although my favorite Rolex is a Pepsi GMT2 it's not the one to rule them all. I'd say either a Platona or a YG Presidential.
