Posting oversized images inconveniences everyone on the board who doesn't have a 65" computer monitor. Posting oversized images is just plain rude and inconsiderate.

It would suit me just fine if those who insist on posting enormous images would go elsewhere to do so.

It's too bad that there are workarounds for the size restriction and I would hope that mods would more aggressively enforce the limits.

Thats the trouble mate perhaps we have been to lapse in past although must admit have resized quite a few some were a crazy size.Trouble today some wants everything done for them instead of doing it themselves its not rocket science to resize a picture.Plus you can always ask google plenty of simple guides on the net.

I think you're missing my point. I have no beef with the rules (or I wouldn't have joined). And I agree that posting normal sized pictures are best for all of us (those huge pictures are really annoying). But the site is here for the users, not the other way around. That's the bottom line, and when users are making suggestions or complaining, it's in the site owners best interest to listen, wouldn't you agree? Maybe nothing can be done now, but in the future, there may be viable options.

And while people are crapping all over someone for not resizing pictures, he's clearly stating a possible limit of his participation. He doesn't have (or won't or can't make) the time to resize pictures to upload. If that happens enough, people will stop uploading pictures or just go elsewhere. Enough of that and this forum dies. Pretty straightforward.

The argument given is that it's so simple to resize pictures (and, really, it is). Some apps even do it for you on the fly. The other side of that is the forum could also use an app to resize all uploads to its desired size on the fly and store the smaller image in the process. I have no idea how much an app like that adds to the cost of the forum, or how much maintenance it takes to keep it functioning, so maybe it's not worth it for the (likely) small number who could leave over such an issue, or just forgo posting pictures because they can't/won't resize them first.

I obviously don't know the economics of this site. None of my business. I'm basing my comments on generalities I've picked up over the years of being on many forums, watching them develop (or fail) and watching some build traffic and value to be sold (to Internet Brands, mostly).

I have already posted details of an android app that will resize pictures. I am sure someone with an iPhone can find a similar app for that platform. So we should all be able to post pictures easily. The end result will be of benefit to those running the forum and members alike..

Interesting... taptalk doesn't upload your picture to RF, but rather to taptalk and then posts a link for you.

The only people who turn a profit from this place are the ones who buy and/or sell watches here.

I suggest you check your facts before you spout off or the decision to go elsewhere will not be yours.

Have you ever heard of Photobucket?

Ed's been here a while and seen people come and go. The banished share a particular attitude that gets them in trouble at some point. You might think of it as a threat, but I see it as mentoring. How you respond says something about your willingness to adapt to forum culture.

Very well said.

The only thing worse is when people then quote and requote and requote said huge images.

In post 7 you stated:

The forums exist to serve an interest and to make money for the owners.

As far as TRF is concerned you could not be more wrong.

You owe Steve and the moderators an apology son.

Agree with you and Grady on that point. I fixed it for my own use by a setting in Tapatalk to block quoted images.

Thanks.

That's valuable information.

I wish there was something similar for the computer.

Browsers vary and perhaps you'd find a plug-in for blocking quoted images. Also, I think people who searched the Windows 10 store found the Tapatalk app - and it used to work on Win8, too.

I just checked my Tapatalk settings and I don't have the option to block quoted images.

I'm using Android.

Quick update - nothing in the WIN10 store for tapatalk. It must've been a beta that I was reading about a few months ago.
