Most Rolex tool watches are good for recreational diving, I have even dove with my older gold president down to 80' with no problems. Did have a problem with a 1980's vintage GMT leaking water in a jacuzzi. Probably my fault, only serviced once in 20 years.

Very few people would dive with such an expensive watch. There is so much metal when diving which could really chew off the finish on the watch in a hurry. Top dive watches in actual use are probably very inexpensive.

When you go diving with the SD43, it doesn't get wet. Instead, the water gets SD43.

It depends on your criteria for a great dive watch. For me, I am waiting to purchase it. Is it a better value than the Sub-C ND, probably not. Is it better than my Seiko Turtle, no. But I want it and will see.

I think you (or at least I) need to see at least 2 decades of service before any dive watch has enough real world service and track record before it even gets considered as a top tier dive watch contender. It takes time to become a legend. The SD43 has the chops to do this but it needs to put in the time to create a real world track record.

2 decades of general public service. Somewhere in that time frame it will be used and abused as a dive watch.

SD43 seems nice, nothing legendary or rare.

I do believe this watch will become the choice of professional divers. Rolex didn't seem to miss anything with this one. |

Hi Art, I'd be very interested in knowing your first impressions in the water being used as the tool watch it is. Your testimony would certainly be valuable. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
