The Rolex Boutique in Vancouver, BC has longer waitlist for the black dial than white. Go figure.

My AD said about equal. Black is probably my favorite modern Rolex.

Just finally received my white two days ago. MY AD said his current waiting list is about 1-1.5 years for the black but 3-4 years for the white. Much greater demand for the white, at least in and around the Toronto area.

I would think that the white dial commands a higher, aftermarket price, as a result of the way it looks, not necessarily because it is harder to come by. Now, it might be true that Rolex is manufacturing more black dials than white ones, which could result in a higher price for the white dials but, I believe, that the real issue is the white dial is so stunningly superior aesthetically with the black ceramic bezel and outlined sub-dials that it makes the black dial look very ordinary by comparison.

White is harder because for the 116500 it has been the one with the higher demand if the two.

White is harder to get since it is in higher demand.
Drats. Haven't been able to do a proper pic upload.
Picked up a black dial Daytona 500c this week. Yes it is so nice. AD asked me not to sell within the first year. He has been very good to me. I was able to purchase the last SD40 he had. Back to the Daytona, I haven't seen a white dial yet.
Take care.

White because it has the panda look which makes it rare like a panda and China likes it more.

I'm not sure which one is harder to get but I was told by an AD in Tysons Corner, VA today that they have a 10 yr waitlist for a SS Daytona...I kind of chuckled a bit when I heard that.

I like black better, maybe because I actually tried it on, but white is a longer wait list... I don't know why

If the black vs white production volumes of the 5-digit Daytona iterations are of any relevance (I do hence this reply with the attached ), rolex does make what seemed to be more popular even harder to get. Part of their marketing genius I suppose ....

Both are easy to get if willing to pay a premium.

Quick question for you guys with known ADs searching for you - when an AD gets you one of these off a list, do they still sell at Rolex MSRP? Or closer to the markets such as on this forum?

I own one Rolex (purchased on this forum) and have no dealer so I figure my options are limited to that market.

White seems tougher to get

I will say the black looks amazing in person, pics do the black no justice.

White. Saw the black in person and passed on it for the white and glad I did. The white looks like something totally different where the black looks like a 116520 with a ceramic bezel added. Don't get me wrong they both are great and one would be very fortunate to own both.
