I bought mine just nine months ago for £5K and they gave me a free tie and shipped it to me. I wasn't thrilled about paying retail, never have before, but not now as it looks like £6K is a fair UK AD price.

I thought Rolex didn't allow A.D's to post new watches to buyers.

They did for me, one of the large chains, but I'm sure things are much tighter these days.

That is a very nice deal. If I was you I'd try my luck on a LV list

I'm already very attached to the one I have

Anyway, the difference would soon be eroded by travel, hotel costs, lost time etc so not worth it.

Rural dealers are the key. People keep trying to obtain watches from big citiy chain dealers and are always disappointed.

Do some legwork, make a trip and get your Rolex.

Yes it says closed Sunday on their website, the watch was still in the window just before closing today so if you're there at opening on Monday it could be yours

Excellent news thanks! This is very strange as I made the decision to search for one literally a couple of days ago, so began to browse this forum for the first time in about 4 years, since sourcing my 16233 here!

Ha I shall report back then!

I should add that i have purchased within the 4 years, but before pulling the trigger on the sub last time (being told waiting lists etc) I fell in love with an IWC whilst on holiday in Bamgkok, which forced a delay!

There is a SubC no date at Goldsmith in Middlesbrough. Looks like Rolex released some lately in U.K.

And there was one in the watch gallery at Covent Garden when I was there last week (and an explorer and an air king!).

Always ring round all the AD's first before going grey & paying a premium.

If your prepared to put yourself out and travel a bit sometimes you drop lucky.

I did with my Sub date.

I Had been on my local AD list for what seemed like for ever, so one random Saturday morning just sat down and started ringing round all the AD's off the Rolex website I could find within 100miles of my hometown (starting with nearest first obvs!)

It paid off as an AD approx. 60miles from me had one he'd been holding for a week as the customer was slow timing giving an answer as to whether he could get the money together or not and the guy just said " Look, if you can get here today before 5pm when we close its yours"

He didn't have to ask twice...

Gentleman I am appalled that some of you UK residents have never heard of the CITY of Lichfield. I honestly didn't think it was such a small place people would not have heard of it lol

Salloways have been trading for years as a small family business with a good reputation. They used to have a very good watchmaker there but he sadly passed away a few years back.

That's good advice. I did some phoning around for a few weeks but did not strike it lucky on this ocassion. Almost every dealer told me the same story - no chance and wasting lists closed. One wonders how this situation has arisen. Previously it was only the Daytona that had a waiting list and everything else was easily obtainable. Its been easier in my hunt for a black ceramic GMT - my local AD expects one soon and I am the only person on the waiting list. If I had wanted a Batman they told me the wait would be at least one year!

There was a black GMT sat in the window of Goldsmiths in Brierly Hill for a few weeks. It was still there up to about two weeks ago I'm sure.

Absolutely, I am appalled at myself.
I have no idea why I've never heard of it....but I won't forget it now.
