And quite probably not dated by an AD, as the purchaser space has two lines through it.

Looks like 2014 to me. But no point speculating - call the AD or Rolex. Also problematic is that there is no day printed, so the exact expiration of the warranty is unclear

OP, you're on here now. Are you going to share more details on what else came with the warranty card?

Warranty card dated 2014 or 2016?

Everything looks to be in order. The seller is one who sells regularly on this forum and has numerous positive feedback, so I'm not worried that this is anything sketchy but rather maybe a mistake was made somewhere. Or maybe no mistake at all, just someone with a funny sense of handwriting.

I will pass on this purchase as I do not want to go through this process again when I sell it some time down the road.

Warranty card dated 2014 or 2016?

I was hoping to get a definitive answer but it looks like the responses are divided; some say 2014, some say 2016. The most helpful idea which I hadn't thought of was to call the AD to ask what's on their records. However when I need to sell it later on, what am I going to put in my ad?

"I'm not the original owner. This watch was originally purchased and dated 2016, although i know it looks like 2014. But don't worry I called and verified with the AD before I purchased the watch from xxxx"

I'd rather put up a straightforward listing with no questions asked on documentation, or leave any trace of doubt as to authenticity. I find those kind of listings the most assuring to transact in. For this same reason I don't buy watches that do not come as a complete package.

Thanks all for your input.

Ask for the color of the tag. If it's red 2014, if it's green then 2016 ..

The new cards were issued in 2013, along with the new boxes, so this cannot be a tell sign in this case.

It looks like a 4 to me.

Looks like a 4 to me since the 6 in the month looks nothing like it.
Plus it seems different pens were used.
This. The month 6 and the questionable 6 look nothing alike. I go with 2014

It must have taken a while for the new cards to get round every AD, my Sub is May 2014 and has the older style card.

This is a full transcript of my PMs to the seller; I just received the latest response a few minutes ago.

My initial message sent 8/5 (my initial question as watch was listed as still covered under warranty):
Hi, am interested, but just wanted to confirm if this is still under warranty? The warranty card is dated June 2014, so would it have expired as of 2 months ago?

Seller response 8/5:
looks like a 6 to us. This kind of card was never made in 2014.. this is the new style card.

My response 8/5:
Ah, that's true I don't recall seeing this card back then. However it does looks quite different to the first "6" (second digit), and I assume it's the same person who wrote the entire date. Is there any official way to find out if this is under warranty short of bringing this in to a RSC?

Seller response 8/6:
All watches that have this card ether have a 3 or 5 year warranty. judging from the serial it has 5.

The seller stated "judging from the serial it has 5." - Is it possible to tell whether a watch has a 3 or 5 year warranty from the serial number? I thought we could no longer do this with the introduction of scrambled/alphanumerical serial numbers. Maybe I was wrong. I won't name the seller as I'm not making the purchase. I've also chosen not to question this statement and have conveyed my intention to pass on this deal.

I don't see any reason to name the seller. I have gone through all 12 pages of results under the Who's Who section of this forum and there isn't a single negative thread about this seller. We all know what a negative word does to a seller's reputation so it's probably best we refrain from putting a name to this thread unless/until it is absolutely necessary.

Well, it can serve to 'warn' others less experienced members, they may be purchasing a watch with ZERO warranty instead of 5 years.

Shouldnt the seller be able to confirm existing warranty on what they're selling?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see why I seller would have a problem with
a link to their listing being posted. Unless of course, they were trying to be deceptive.

I'd be very surprised if that was a 6. It certainly looks like a 4 and nothing like the previous very round 6.
I'd just wait for another one to come up or have the seller confirm the warranty expiration date with Rolex. No BS about when they think this or that card was available where and when.

I would say a 4 & the Warranty Card Is not filled out correctly there should be day/month/year. I don't know if this Warranty would be honoured because of this

The warranty card in question is mine.

The warranty card is from 2016 not 2014. as you can see who ever wrote 06 has a different penmanship. I wrote the 06 on the card when i sold it to a local customer of mine.

I will never claim something has warranty if it does not. in any case, if in the event that there is a problem with the warranty or any watch that i sell with a warranty was declined by the manufacturer, I stand behind every single watch that I sell and will pay for any cost the manufacturer charges to have the watch serviced at their facility.

The reason why you are buying from a reputable seller is that you dont want to be left hanging when there is a problem or when a problem does arise.

There are many issues with warranty. I have bought brand new watches from US dealers what Rolex declined warranty even if the card was properly filled out because the AD forgot to activate the card. At the end of the day, I had to pay for a service out of my own pocket because the watch was running slow and it was not the fault of the buyer and I stand behind the watches that I sell. So if there was an issue with the warranty of this watch come the time that a warranty claim needs to be executed, I will stand behind it and pay for the service myself if i have to. Thats part of my policy.

So when did the AD activate the warranty? June 2016?

I will have to double check the serial number on my records but i believe I bought the watch in April or May of 2016 and sold in June. So the card activation would either be April or May.
