The Explorer looks good on your wrist. For me it's the sub because I tried on the exp2 and it looked huge.

I would keep the Explorer 2 and save for the Sub. I own and enjoy both.

I would prefer the subC nd. It wears great, has the glide lock and is versatile.

I'd argue that the fine radial brushing and highly polished edge of the Explorers' stainless bezel catches the light in far more interesting ways than the ceramic bezel of the Sub....
The Explorer case, whilst bigger, is more traditionally elegant than the fat arsed Sub case and the larger maxi dial is more legible...so, waaaayyyy better than the Sub* and that's even before the extra GMT functionality and date... Still your wrist, your money, try them both. * Obviously just my opinion. But it is. Way. |

Nothing beats the glide lock and if you want a GMT nothing beats the GMT Master II :) Plus, if you started thinking about giving up the Explorer, you will eventually give it up, maybe not now but you will soon. |

I've owned both watches...twice. I currently only have a 216570. I find it's more comfortable on my wrist. It's due to the lower, wider case back. Easy to tell the time no matter what angle you look at the watch. The orange hand is just cool I like the fact that it tips it's hat to the 1655. The orange writing on the dial is a nice touch also. I prefer the tapered lugs to the ones on the 114060. Another nice thing is you don't see one everyone else. The 114060 is a great watch and it's iconic for a reason. Not having a date wasn't an issue for me. You can get an almost perfect with the Glidelock, but the Easylink clasp is more comfortable for me.
These are just my observations based on my own experiences. YMMV

Please don't trade it...you've already lost two great watches getting it.
Take it from another flipper , keep your watch and add a sub to it down the road when you can afford it. |

114060 vs 216570 for one watch daily wearer
Close the thread. I am keeping the exp ii.
Years ago when I interned in Aspen Colorado as a kid, I encountered a large Rolex ad advertisement of a polar 16570. When I saw it then, I knew I would own an explorer ii someday. I need to hold onto this and make it my own. #quittheflipping Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tricky one as both are excellent watches. I still have the SubC though flipped the Explorer. It wore really well and I liked the overall design but it just felt too big at 42mm. Comes down to personal taste in the end.

While market forces dictate a bit higher resale value on the Sub vs. Explorer II currently, the 216570 is a more complicated watch with GMT function and Date. It also contains the next generation of movement upgrades. I suggest that the 216570 has more upside potential. Personally, I love the watch and wear it close to every day. Be bold. Be different.

Subs are great but the 216570 is my favorite reference by far, so....
