Permission to speak freely Sir

I don't get it Mr P. Do we need really need an official "Not Fans of the BLNR " thread Sir ?
Shouldn't we celebrate the rich diversity of opinions and preferences instead of creating sub divisions within the Rolex family ? Surely Sir , you must know while many may come out from the closet to freely express themselves, many more would prefer to remain neutral because they believe it doesn't serve any purpose

I've many friends on the "Non TRF " who just can't wait to get their hands on a BLNR and I'm really happy for them. Just hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that the posts don't get nasty and hurtful

I'm in the middle. Bought it twice, sold it twice. Not "as bad" as the SND, I currently have my fourth...

They both seem to bore me after a while, but are missed after a while when I sold them. It's not a problem of the watch, it's a problem of me, the owner/buyer: the BLNR is a great and beautiful watch.

We might take our watches a bit too serious sometimes (I know I am guilty as charged). As long as we all agree that today all rolex models are ugly and bad with only the non ceramic daytona excluded, we are fine.....

Tomorrow is a different day...

I wanted to sell mine largely because of its high market value here in HK. Got a little bored of the blue... but it was a gift and my wife won't let me sell it. As a result, I'm wearing it as I type this

It really all depends on whether you're a fan of Batman (BLNR) or Superman (BLRO). Either way, the entire issue is "comical" (bad pun intended).

Well - it's now official that the BLNR is indeed so popular, that it has earned it's own "I don't like the BLNR"-thread.

Probably the first post in the spirit in which I hoped I'd created this thread. I salute you, sir

I think there's no harm in people stating whether they are fans of the watch or not, without having to bash its name around.

I'm not a fan but that's just due to my personal preference. I'm in and out of hot and cold environments for work everyday plus physical job so Sub with glidelock just seemed a more sturdy bet, so that's the one on order.

If my job was different I'd give the GMT a look in, but I'd still think it would be the LN not BLNR. I think the hype of a dual coloured bezel watch has kind of taken over, since we all pray for a SS coke or Pepsi, the BLNR is probably the nearest some of us will get to without having to sell a kidney or maybe half our liver for the BLRO.

Just my 2 (uk) pence :-p

Therefore, this thread is for TRFers to come out of the closet and publicly admit that they are not fans of this reference.

There will be no hating on the BLNR though; we don't want any 'it's breath smells, it stinks of pee and it's mum dresses it funny" stuff. That's not cool, it's unacceptable and against the spirit of my (tongue-in-cheek) thread. Please be guided by the wise and profound words from Grady in my signature below.

It's just a thread where we can safely admit to not being fans without fear of being pelted with wet kippers and congealed custard, that's all
I don't like the BLNR, but I do like kippers.

I had to look up what a kipper is:-)
I used to use them as bait for good fish (striped bass). In New England. Now there is a thread.

If people stay within the spirit of the thread and keep it fun, then there's no reason why it shouldn't

Not a fan. It just doesn't sing to me in the metal. Neither the LVC or any of the YM's.

As a Milgauss and Explorer MK1 lover, I guess I'm just not wired to go with the flow.

I really like the BLNR and it would be on my shortlist if I made a jump to 6-digit sport models. But... I really cannot get over those PCLs. It's the one thing that really dashes my aspirations for this watch, and for many other 6-digit models. Great watch though.

I also tried the blnr in the Bahamas, and it didn't sing to me, it's probably the bezel.

I own and love the LN, not a BLNR fan. When I bought it I had the BLNR and the LN side by side. Looking back it's weird to me that the tiny differences (blue hand, half blue bezel, white GMT text) were enough to swing my opinion from love to not a fan.

I just like my luck that the better watch for me was $500 cheaper, usually my luck is the other way. It's funny that the tiniest details can really swing your gut feelings for loving/not loving a watch.

X2. This is what prevented me from getting one and I think specifically for me it is the tone of blue they use on the BLNR. I love the blue ceramic on the smurf, the blro, and the bluesy, but for some reason I don't like the shade of blue on the BLNR. It's a very subtle difference but enough to turn me off from it.

I started this thread for a giggle, that's all. I did say extremely clearly that I didn't want it to be a hate thread and, in doing so, deliberately pointed to Grady's most excellent statement, which I use with his kind permission, in my signature.

As I've said previously in a number of threads it is now readily apparent to me that I bought into the hype of the BLNR as opposed to buying it out of a love for the watch. By all the laws of common sense, I should love it. I'm an ex-professional navigator, I live eight (sometimes seven) time zones from home and I travel extensively. On paper, it's the perfect watch. However, I just couldn't bond with it; it would most certainly get left behind in a zombie apocalypse.

I do not (and I'm being deadly serious here) understand what my beef is with the BLNR. I was also hoping someone might offer an insight as to why that might be so.

Anyhoo, on reflection, I guess starting this thread wasn't one of my brightest ideas so I offer another mild apology and perhaps it's best if it's locked before it does spiral in the wrong direction.

I like this thread. It's a good reminder to try to distinguish between what what sings to us, vs getting caught up in the hype. I was fond of the BLNR, but since spending an unhealthy amount of time on TRF, find myself paying it a lot of attention...still, however managing to resist the urge to pick one up.

Along those lines, in trying to decide how much of my current mild obsession with the 116610lv comes from it singing to me and how much from the groundswell of attention it has been getting of late

the LV is the Marmite watch... you either love it or hate it. The "marmite" is a much better nickname than the hulk anyway, hopefully it catches on.

I love the pics but when i tried one on, it just doesn't work for me.
