Oh and do you know if the screws are included for the LG base? It doesn't say on the website.

Good to know. I did wonder about that. So opening it up voids the warranty?

Would it be OK if I put the original case back on when sending it in for service/get regulated?

Does Rolex care if we open up a case back (warranty -wise)? Can they tell?

I'd like to know this too. Is there a seal that is broken if you open the case back?

What do you guys do to ensure water resistance? On my old sub, I had it professionally installed and pressure tested. I ordered a new one for my BLNR, and was planning to do the same. I'm sure I could install it myself, but want to ensure that water resistance.

Wow, don't think opening the case voids the warranty unless you spill some single malt in there. Send it for regulation with the original case back installed.

The screw to attach the base to the LG is included.

Did you read my first post? I bought a clear case back and would like to replace the original one with it. It's nice to see the beautiful movement inside. And I gotta say Custom Watch Concepts makes some pretty damn high quality lids.

Oh and you're right. I am very OCD :)

Anyway I will just reinstall the original lid when sending it in for service. I doubt they will know I opened it. I'll make sure to tighten it as it originally was.

How do you alternate between your watches? By what your dress? I'd have a hard time picking one if I had 3 or more to choose from =/
I have about 10 in a sort of rotation but recently these three are getting all the attention...

...specifically the 16570, the markers are beginning to patina, so beautiful. :)

I'm curious, how much does it cost to have your watch serviced and polished by RSC?

Would the Bergeon 5444A Satin Finish Bar (fine) brush out those scratches on the back of the case?

Sorry to be blunt, but man you need to give this up as a bad job and leave it to professionals. You've voided the warranty and damaged the case back and still you have no remorse for this poor watch. Your determination is unwaivered and I fear more damage is looming. You'll regret it if you don't seek help now

That looks like a nice heavy duty item.

Does this unit have a torque gauge built in to it as from an engineering point of view it looks like it would be difficult to judge the low torque setting required for a case back?

The Rolex 1019 has an indicator that clicks out when the torque reaches 5Nm.

These are the same tools I use as well

I have a DIY posted at https://www.minus4plus6.com/caseback.php from about 10 years ago, but everything still applies.

The case back is easy to fix. Use very fine (30 micron) finishing paper from Watch Brand New or Esslinger remove those scratches (swipe the case back in one direction while the paper is laid flat on a table) or take the case back to your local watchmaker and have them do it. WatchBrand New info is here. http://stores.ebay.com/watchbandrene...moval-kit.html

I have a sapphire casebacks on both my 16760 and 16710/3186 watches. Looking at the movements when bored is a bunch of fun.

Just don’t be tempted to regulate your watch when the caseback is removed. That is a whole separate project https://www.minus4plus6.com/regulation.php

I’ve spun off the sapphire caseback and reinstalled the factory caseback and taken the watches for Rolex service at an RSC without any issues regarding warranty.

thanks for all the info guys. sheldonsmith I agree I don't think it should be a problem if I open the case. As long as I reinstall the original case back when sending it in for warranty/service.

I am astonished getting it serviced and polished is that expensive. I will try to buff out the scratches on the back myself. I hope I can do it right. If not I will ask my local AD to take care of it.

I won't touch the movement. I have no idea what I'm doing. All I want is to install the clear case back and rub out those ugly scratches. I'll post some photos once I give it a shot. :)
