Michael:
I am thrilled that you felt close enough to us to share something so personal and painful. There is nothing to be ashamed of to end up in a clinic for depression. I went to one many years ago when my father died. I was very close to him and his death hit me like a ton of bricks. There were also people from all walks of life in there with me as well. Everyone hurts at points in their life and our tears are all the same. I wish you a speedy recovery and, I hope they get the medication regulated well for you. Maybe that will be a temporary thing for you and you will not have to be on them for long. Take care Michael and, I wish you and your wife all the best. May God watch over you in these difficult times. Terry Newton

Dear Michael,
I am so glad to hear from you! It is very nice, that you are talking to us here. I mentioned before, that I may understand how you feel and how you got where you are right now. It is very hard to understand for most. Those lucky ones, that never have anyhing to do with incidents like this...most are reading about it in the paper and don't know nothing... Thank you for telling us. I think what helps a lot, besides what you are going through in that hospital, is talking to your wife...she might understand much more than you ever thought I wish you all the best, from all my heart Happy Birthday to you!!! I know, you will enjoy that day, you should! You are not alone! You never will be! Keep us updated, get better soon, take you time. Fred

Dear TRF Friends,
My wife and I went out today for a very nice lunch at a great 'quite' restaurant. The food was sensational and we sat together somewhere nice and peaceful. It was just the wife and I and as it has been a very long week speaking with psychiatrists and the like. I was almost plain talked out, but speaking with Gill over lunch about my issues and how she is coping was truly great. This probably sounds a little bit odd to say, but I feel this setback and the road back to recovery will only strengthen the bond between Gill and I. What I really enjoy most is that both of us are communicating more freely and honestly with one another. That in itself is a win win situation for both of us now matter how long it takes me to recover from the chronic depression/chronic anxiety and some major PTSD issues. Everyone here on this forum is great and it helps me to 'unload' to a certain degree. I have met some wonderful patients too that are professionals as well as other occupations, including nurses and doctors. It's a great healing process to be able to share with others. Some have been in the same clinic on several ocassions in the past. Cheers Michael |

Just got into town, ...
... but the title of your Thread caught my eye; I'm glad I read on.

Michael - great post - there's clearly strength in your character and your heart and it really comes through. I'd wish you luck, but luck (as you know) ain't got nothin' to do with it. People like you, with your courage, always carry on.

Hey Michael, sorry for weighing in so late on this. I haven't been around much and I'm only just getting caught up with everything here.
Sometimes it takes a critical incident to bring this to a head so you can move forward, and you've handled this one well. It's good to hear that you're talking to Gill and giving her an understanding of what's going on. Well done, mate - hang in there!

It's great to hear your progress, Michael. I was in the same place a few years ago, for the same thing and the same event (I'm pretty sure) was the catalyst of me being there. You have my full support and the full support of everyone in this forum.
Please stay strong! |

I've been away from law enforcment for a couple years now, and still have dreams and thoughts, and I didn't go through anything as traumatic as you. I only mention this because you're in my thoughts and prayers, we are kindred spirits.
