I think it is a great post!!! There is definitely a difference between buying second hand and getting a cold delivery box at the door and the experience of walking into an AD jeweler and putting that baby on wrist for the first time. All safely coddled in stickers. And if the AD is in to making it a good experience they will chat with you about watches or whatever you fancy and make the experience great. I have now shared vacation pics with my AD and his family. He messages me just to say hello and see how I am doing. Although I am sure he would like to hear me say, “ got any new Rolexes”. Good luck and best wishes with yours and be sure to post pictures. Wear it in good health !!

Well I doubt I will ever visit this particular AD again, on entry I was bluntly asked to sit down at the Omega desk (Rolex desk free) this was while the watch was being bought out from the back, the saleswoman didnt say a word as she sat down and immediately asked for payment, after handing over the £ she silently started writing out the warranty card, my girlfriend told her she had misspelt my name and she scribbled it out and made a pigs ear of it all (no big deal granted)

After filling it out (still in silence and me trying to engage conversation) she finally removed the Sub from its coffin and it was apparent the stickers had been removed and time set, I asked if I could take the coffin and she refused, At this time my girlfriend was getting quite annoyed at how off/cold everyone was acting towards us

The saleswoman told us that they were very busy with people picking up watches today etc, she then handed me the watch telling me the watch was guaranteed for 2 yrs and 'wont need a service for ten' I corrected her on the warranty and she then corrected herself, with the watch in my hand I asked if it could be resized?? she took it back (looking a little annoyed) she called over a colleague, I explained exactly what I wanted (from experience of my 114060) and so he took it away, we sat waiting for a few minutes and froze to death, when we got up and looked at the Rolex display the staff stared at us like we were trespassing, when he returned he had clearly not listened and it was not sized how I had asked, I explained again and he took it away to do it properly

At no time was we offered a drink etc we just sat and waited under a freezing air con unit, eventually the watch returned and the saleswoman said 'the watch is too loose' I said I would adjust the clasp and she muttered something about the easylink?? then the box was handed over and we was ushered outside

All in all about ten/fifteen minutes

My girlfriend was really quite annoyed when we left and said she felt as though we were treated like we didnt deserve the watch, I said that the important thing is the watch and I was very happy!

I checked the time and it was miles off, tried to unscrew the crown and it was honestly so tight I really struggled to unscrew it, we walked a few doors up and into an art gallery and was instantly greeted with a warm smile, and welcoming hello and the offer of a glass of chsmpagne, we bought a LE print in the end for a tenth of the cost of the Sub and was made to feel so welcome

Anyway, I feel a fool for expecting some sort of AD 'experience' I bought an Oris a few years ago for £600 and it was such a great day, trying on watches, chatting about brands, models etc, I wonder if the Rolex AD felt no need to be welcoming/civil etc as the watch was 'in demand' and another buyer would come along instantly

Anyway, the watch is great and the AD did nothing wrong as such, my girlfriend has said she will never set foot in there again so that is a shame, luckily I am happy with the LV and have no plans for more watches at this time, if that chsnges I may have to travel a while :)

UK ADs are now often a warzone so don't expect much, as for drinks some ADs like Fraser Hart just don't have any. The watch is all the matters.

Nice read and watch.

Never compromise on the purchase. It's usually better to save more or wait longer than getting something that won't scratch the itch and em result in disappointment (and a larger expense in the long term when the inevitable flip comes)

That sucks...but the brand has put these watch "salesman" in power now....you have to go groveling to some to purchase their merchandise lol....I wish what I sell has the same power...sorry OP you deserve better and I'm glad you realize what's important is you have your watch....they'll get what's coming to them someday treating people (much less customers) like this.

Thanks again everyone, sorry about the rant, it was a bit alcohol fuelled last night and a bit spoilt brat so apologies

My only disappointment really was that my girlfriend was upset, for me it was all about the watch but she had hoped it would be a nicer experience for my birthday, like I told her we are not the customers they want to look after as they will have very wealthy customers in everyday

And it was not a BAD experience at all, just could have been a little better

The watch being naked and fiddled with before I arrived made me feel like it wasnt new

Congrats.

Wouldn’t get too hung up on the AD service considering how difficult it is to even get certain models in the UK at present.

A glass of cheapo champers and a chocolate will soon be forgot anyhow (though service with a smile is always nice)

Maybe right a review somewhere where they will see it :)

Lovely watch Craig - we have similar taste! Love the cake! Many belated happy returns.

P.S. was it Charles Fox in Bournemouth?

Great story and congrats on your b-day and Rolex! Like you, I waited a long time before I finally got my first Rolex this year (I'm 48!) and I understand the desire to pay extra for the AD experience. Sorry to hear they were so rude, but at least you are happy with the watch!
