Ha! I have to have it. It's my grail and I have a strong preference for the domed bezel. It's a cleaner look to my eyes.

Why is it that some suggest I move in another direction? I'm purchasing pre-owned at a good price for a mint piece.

I am not a fan of the domed bezel with a Prez bracelet, but I would for sure go for the Plat over WG because of the weight and toughness

I'm a huge fan of all 36mm DD models except for this most recent rose gold recipe that looks like copper. As I mentioned, I had WG. Wifey has YG 36 mm and a YG DJ. Nothing, IMO, feels like the plat and when paired with the blue dial nothing, except for the meteorite dial with the two pear-shaped diamonds, comes close.

If I could save that $3k, I'd use it to purchase a Speedmaster to wear on days that I wanted a change. . .but I don't want to sacrifice the 118206. Thoughts?
I think you answered your own question above. In particular, I prefer the hinged crown and like the authoritative snap when closed. The tension clasp if not aligned correctly would have a tendency to pop open on my buddy’s 18238.

That said, only you can decide what works best for you and your budget. Having had both as well, you will absolutely love the Pt DD.

Best of luck in your search!

The rehaut is just another security feature and you can now read the serial number of the watch without removing the bracelet. It’s basically the latest/greatest unless you consider a random serial number to be important to you as well.

I spent about a year looking for mine before finding the right DD. I also had a 118239 WG DD that I bought new from an AD.....knew I wasn’t going to stop until I found the pinnacle DD (Pt)
Beauty Steve, I love that dial

That's the piece I was missing...the hinged crown comes with the later clasps. Thank you sir. With luck, I will have it by week's end.
