Speedy pro with Hesalite is my vote...as has been said, it adds another function and a different brand to your collection

Speedy Pro. There are SO many choices for size, movement, etc, and straps can completely change the look of a Speedmaster maybe more than for any other watch.

I'd go with the Speedy. In regards to the speedy- Whats the difference between the Hesalite and sapphire crystal (as far as aesthetics)?

Most of your watches (not sure about the Grand Seiko) are at a substantial higher pricepoint than the Speedmaster. Now that might not be a strong argument and I am surprised myself about noting it, because collecting should not be about the price of individual pieces. But imo the Explorer would just fit in much better. To me there is a risk that the Speedmaster could shine out negatively as the “Invicta” of the collection between the heavyweights in your watchbox.
The Explorer breaths higher quality and finish than the Speedmaster. I would add the Explorer. And for fun get a Speedmaster in a later stage.

I had this same dilemma last week and got the Explorer
The speedy pro is great. But I realized I wasn't going to wear it much. |

I always figured the Explorer was perfect for the one watch sort of person and less suited to a varied collection. I didn't consider the cut-from-a-single-block-of-steel quality that it exudes and how well that characteristic alone makes it fit in so well... |

If no date necessary, go chrono! Speedy gets my vote.

OP, nice varying collection of watches. Don't see any divers in there so I assume you are not a fan, otherwise a SubC (no date) would be a great addition in my opinion.
Between the two, if I had your collection, I would go with Speedmaster. And if I ever buy a speedmaster, it will be the hesalite version. Quote:

A speedy should be in everyone's collection at some point.

You buy a Speedmaster because it is THE iconic chronograph. Because it outlasted all other watches and was chosen via rigorous testing to be used by astronauts on the moon. Because the design was just about perfect when it debuted in 1957 and has barely changed since (even the Explorer has been revised a few times). The "Invicta" of the collection?!

I have both the 214270 and the Speedy Pro - in fact they are my only two premium watches. I think you should have both, but get the Explorer first before the prices go higher. But if you only get one, get the Speedmaster.

Speedy hesalite for the win. Avoid the 'special editions'. They make a new one every year and they are tacky.

From a "collectors" standpoint...I agree with the Speedy.
But, having said that, I like the way the new EXP feels and looks on the wrist. Tough call. |

In a vacuum, I'd say 114270>Speedy>214270, but, in the case of your collection, I'd probably go Speedy.
