I prefer the aquanaut to the Journe, but since all of your watches are steel sports pieces, go with the cb

So, like you, I am a sports watch guy at heart (numerous steel Rolex on oysters, Omega, Nautilus, Royal Oak etc). Panerai, albeit a Sub, was the first non steel bracelet watch I bought and there were the multiple PAMs. Today the collection is more balanced but still 50% sports watch. I do own a CB and I find I wear it quite a lot. The whole strap change bug, which I got with the PAMs a long time ago, allowing you to have a different watch every day almost was something I got really hooked on. The CB, and the quick release system, allows this too and that watch can be changed materially via strap choice. For example I have the tan you saw at the Boutique, a blue one, grey, orange and green. Different watch. I guess you can do this a little now with Rolex after market runner straps too so perhaps the point is moot. Try and get to handle someone's Aquanaut. If you want to see the CB again PM me. I'm in NYC too and happy to show you the watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Glad you made it over here.
You know how I feel! 5167 100% you’re gonna love Patek FYI, adding rubber will cost ~1300 after the fact (mostly due to the clasp) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm a 5167 fan (on rubber).
Had 5164 and went backwards to 5167. I don't see the value in the extra $$$ for a function I won't use (Rolex GMT is my travel watch), in addition to my preference for the date window on this vs the subdial date. |

Many people don't understand the simplicity of the 5167. Making a clean and simple watch is actually harder than adding tons of stuff.
The Aquanaut design is a bit quirky. It is too sporty of be a dress watch, and too dressy to be a sport watch. The watch isn't a true Genta design but clearly inspired by Patek's Nautilus line which was designed by Gerald Genta. Personally I think they did a great job on it. The size is great for daily wearer. The lume is strong and very useful. You won't see tons of them in the wild. It is super comfortable to wear. It is a bit of a scratch magnet but I wouldn't worry about that, just use it. FPJ, while I like them, it is not where I would put my money. Best of luck with the decision. |

When I had the 5167 SS bracelet in my hands, the AD mentioned that she would throw a couple rubber straps in for free. However not sure if that would have included the clasp or not. I hope my assumption is yes - but I could be off on that The 5167 looks great on your wrist!! |

The 5167 is extremely versatile, it goes with anything.
Some pics to make your decision even harder. |

Thanks bud! I grow more fond of it with each passing day. The cost breakdown for the clasp/straps are 1013/255 respectively. Would be awesome if your AD lady would give you the whole kit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Next watch opinion: 5167 or ....
Thanks for everyone's feedback!
Certainly lots to think about... - Pros and cons to 5167 vs. CB - 5167 vs. 5164 (which wasn't even on my radar until i posted this thread) Assuming I get whatever $$$ I can get for my Omegas and Tudor (and maybe keep my Rolexes for now....I really do love my Rolexes!), I put together a little collage of what my collection might look like in the not too distant future (or some variation of it):
(top row is my current Rolex stable and the bottom row are borrowed images!) My bank account will complain like crazy but I'm liking the look and feel of my future collection (probably just one Patek though)! |

I’d get the 5167, or as others have suggested sell the omegas and Tudor towards a 5164. I’d be very reluctant to sell any of the Rolexes, but at a push I’d sell the SD4K if needed.

I love the 5167. I opted for the rubber strap and it gets all the wrist time...a very legible watch. I am picky with the length of hands on my watches and the 5167 is perfect...easy to tell the minute or seconds with a glance (I feel some of my rolex watches have hands that are a touch short).
I was not a fan of the bracelet as the rubber strap is incredibly comfortable and the watch just floats on the wrist. The Aquanaut works with a suit but I tend to wear the Grand Seiko sbgw253 on suit days :) I wear the aquanaut with workout clothes to business casual. Shoot I sometimes even wear the 5167 lifting weights or running. |

The 5167 is a truly lovely watch that works really well as part of a collection
as it's a little thin if wearing with short sleeves in summer when it lacks a little presence but is gorgeous under sleeves. The dial is stunning and the whole watch is beautifully constructed. You can wear it all day everyday! I think 5164 is expensive for a similar look I would be looking at a Nautilus. The Journe is a little quirky. How often would you actually wear it? |

5164 is expensive... and probably out of my price range for a single watch FPJ CB? I like the way it looks and it does fit my wrist. I do ask myself that same question you posed to me "how often would you actually wear it?" As you indicate perhaps it is not an "either or" question but "now and then later" question |

It doesnt seem like you’d like the leather strap on the CB based on your collection so an Aquanuat seems like the logical choice. The reason I initially picked the CB for You would be to add some variety and a dial that isnt black or white. Best of luck in deciding

I would sell the Omegas and Tudor and go with the PP 5167. You have a great Rolex collection, I would keep it.

As others have said, I would sell the Tudor and consolidate some of the Rolexes to fund the 5164. Although you said you weren’t a fan, I would definitely recommend the 15202. It would be a great addition to your collection. The ultra thin movement would also compliment the comfort of the 5164 as well.

I’ve had almost every Rolex available over the years.... I’ve also had countless AP’s and recently I grabbed a Aquanaut 5167 on bracelet (I’ve got the rubber on order so I have the best of both worlds) and I have to say I love it!!!
Simple but you can tell it’s not just a basic watch... I still have a bunch of Rolex still but my PP is slowly becoming my daily and I really have no urge to wear any of my Rolex or AP..... I am actually considering thinning the collection down now that I think I’ve hit a comfort zone with this watch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
