Quadrifoglio? Great car, Alfa finally back, their fist decent car in along time, depreciation will be massive.

You can have the best of both worlds if you go for a pre-owned E63 AMG & Plat DayDate

The car. Chicks will dig it. Try to impress a lady with how much your platinum watch cost and she'll think you're a head case...

The watch will sit on your wrist tell you the time..oooh and the day and date... bet the cars dashboard does that too....and you can have way more fun driving...

Pick the Rolex & lease a German car

Pick the Rolex & lease a German car such as BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Porsche. Alfa's are glorified Fiats! I don't know about in the US but in the UK Alfa's lose money for fun, the depreciation is horrific (that's why hardly any are sold here). They look amazing but that's where it ends. You'll get good value from your Rolex investment & you'll get a more competitive lease deal on a German car because of the better residual values.

Many many years ago when I was into racing sports cars, the popular adage re Italian cars was “the Italians invented rust”. I’m sure that’s not true today, but I’d buy the watch. In 10 years, the car is worth squat and the watch will still have strong value.

The majority of reviews I read on the Alfa when it first came out mentioned some sort of failure in the car- electric, mechanical, whatever. That said, one of these two will run perfectly for years and one... won't. I love cars but I'm adverse to unreliable. The DD every time. Had you said a 911 or 718 I would've had a really hard time in your shoes. Great problem to have. Happy birthday.

If we are talking Quadrifoglio then as a car guy I would have to say Alfa. Otherwise DD.

Exactly. 500hp+ or look at another brand. A PM Rolex will depreciate as well so buy what you really want and forget any depreciation or investment argument.
I am a car guy so I would go with a car like a 911, C63, RS7, E63s, M5, etc..
If you want to go full on midlife crisis car go Hellcat, Corvette Z06, or Mustang GT350.

I like cars but I just don't get a personal attachment to them. I'm a watch guy, that's why I'm here - so watch all day every day. I like nice cars but I always buy them 3 years+ old, 60K+ after the big depreciation hit and run them into the ground.

The Alfa with a lease as depreciation on (most) European cars is crazy. When you’re done with it, the day date.

Get a 911....there is no substitute. Join PCA and have fun at events and track days. Buy a used 997.2 if money is tight. On a date you will get extra bonus points. Can also be a great DD and fun time. Best all around sports IMO.

I agree with this.

If you get the Giulia, get the Quadrifoglio, another option is the Stelvio Quadrifoglio coming in the next few months. AWD etc.

I'd buy the DD as that sounds like a genuine buy. If you want the car sell the other hyped watches.

Day Date. It can be with you at all times. Not just when you need to get somewhere. That's a companion.

The Alfa is a total second car. The way I see the car is a totally gorgeous sexy but completely psychotic companion that is unpredictable
Well now it's important to know what your other car is. If your other car is functional and fun, then I'd take the watch. It can go more places with me and bring me joy even while using the bathroom.
Otherwise, if a car is a must and your talking midlife crisis....I'd hold out a little longer and see below ...

Nothing solves a midlife crisis like a Porsche 911s/GTS. Maybe even a vert.
You have plenty of watches. The Porsche will depreciate less than the Alfa and though it may be a little more common it is leagues more fun and exciting.

I'd go for the DD as it won't tank in value as the car will over time.

If it's the DD40, then the watch.

If the car was something else, maybe the car...just depends.
