For whatever reason, Rolex is not in the business of maximizing sales and profit. Seems very stupid to me, but it is what it is unfortunately.

Every car dealer will have a “display” model even if you can’t buy that model but at least you can try it!
I really like that idea and think ADs should consider it because what’s the point of waiting years for a 500c only to find out it’s too small or doesn’t fit your taste. Having a piece for “display only” would at least give us an idea if we even like the watch or just going off of internet hype!
